@BucketsUCSC The reports will automatically get sent to the colleges you’ve selected before you actually get to see the score. I would cancel those unless you are feeling REALLY good about how you did, or the schools you chose require ALL of your scores.
Anyone here doing USNCO? if so, which textbooks are you using / what are you doing to study??

@18college1111 ok, but I am a junior so the colleges won’t be looking at the scores now. I got a 1460 good but not as high as I expected so I will be taking it again so the next time I take it, can I select score choice or will the colleges still see that first score.
@BucketsUCSC I am a junior too. The way I understand it, they keep whatever you send. You cannot hide scores or use score choice once they have it, and it seems like its too late for you. I am not 100% sure, but I debated about sending the free reports too, and from my research, that’s what it’s like. And while the schools may not look now, they will look later. Why else would you be able to send scores now? It’s not like they would just throw them away.
It probably won’t affect you admissions chances, unless you get a lower score the next time you take it.
@BucketsUCSC Do you have tips for the SAT? I am taking it next week with my latest practice score at a 1530 (750EBR+W and 780M).
Would anyone else mind reading my essays? At this point, I’m looking for someone to critique it, but for someone to rate it. I asked one of the librarians at the public library what they thought about it and they thought it was very well written and seemed very personal.
yes well I think the biggest mistake I made was not studying the week before the test, I was also getting around the same scores as you did on practice tests @KG5APR , however not studying the week before the test made me rusty. A lot of people advise against this but if you’re someone that does better at tests when you cram I’d reccomend taking a practice test the day before the test and intensely reviewing your mistakes, I feel if i did that i easily could have gotten my score past 1500
@18college1111 the good thing is every college i sent my score reports too either superscore or require all scores

I also had a really weird question: If one of my parents went college in the U.S., would I still be considered “first-generation” even though I would be considered an American citizen from birth? Basically, my parents are Ghanaian immigrants and my father went to college and already got his degree.

I actually really got the short end of the stick when it comes to parents in college. My dad didn’t go at all, and my mom went to a tiny college near my house. So I’m not first gen because my mom went to college, but I’m only a legacy at that tiny college
@nyuhopeful44 That’s similar to my situation. My mom never went to college, but my dad went to GMU.
Im a legacy at Gonzaga (dad, both grandparents on that side) which isnt helpful cause I dont wanna go somewhere relgiously affiliated and I’d get in easily anyway and Krasnayarsk State University (dad (masters), mom) which is in russia and was merged into a different school so really really not helpful.
I’m a double-legacy at UConn, but I don’t think state schools care very much about that sort of thing…
I actually went on a tour for UConn with my friend and sister on Saturday! It was a little disappointing, since it mostly featured its engineering and business schools. I think I need to focus on more liberal arts based colleges. However, after the tour we went to see the baby calves and got ice cream, so I was satisfied. My mom, having been in the agriculture school, was a bit miffed that it wasn’t brought up at all. 
Also Happy Halloween everyone!! I’m wearing a Pikachu shirt to school and I saw someone dressed as a Pikachu. When I was younger I had an actual Pikachu costume, but I don’t know if it would fit me now. x)
@nyuhopeful44 My mom went to Washington State University and I don’t even know if my dad went to college or not. I think he went to a small community college in Montana or something. I’m hoping I’ll be legacy because of my grandfather at McGill, otherwise there’s no hope for me. I’m the eldest in my family so that doesn’t help either (not that my sister would want to go to the same college as me, unless it’s McGill, Dartmouth, or Tufts). Paving my own path, I guess.

@frazzledazzle My aunt went to WSU! Its crossed off my list for a variety of reasons even though its close, one being when we went on a field trip there in 6th grade the first place we stopped was the cow farm and it was disgusting lol
