High School Class of 2018

My safeties are Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech, and then my invetweens are UVA, Harvey Mudd, and UC Berkeley

I just took an ACT practice test.for someone that literally didn’t study for any of them except for English, I did pretty good. Around a 27

@angelwings0137 Virginia Tech is my top choice at this point. I’m still on the fence about UVA. Do you usually do better on the SAT.

Hey guys!!!

So I thought since I just bought the ACT red book I should probably post on CC for the first time too lol. But anyway, I currently go to a Middle College (dual enrollment) and I’m taking English 101, History 212 (American History), SAT Prep (required), MAT 151 (Pre-calc 2), and Honors Spanish 3 online [Last semester I took AP Human Geography, Honors Chemistry, MAT 150, and a course required for my school]. I live in NC so we’re required to take the ACT on February 28th but I also wanted to take the SAT on the March 11th date, does anyone think that would be too close together? My alternative would be just waiting until the June date to take the SAT.

My sister goes to UVA. It’s a good school. I don’t know yet if I do better on the SAT or the ACT. I’m still waiting for my January 21 scores. I’m around the high 1300 to low 1400. But that’s without studying. (It seems I’m allergic to studying) I’m taking a prep course for 8 weeks so that by the time of my next SAT I’ll be around the low 1500 (hopefully).
And about the ACT. I think I’ll do better on it. I don’t know yet. I only studied for the English section, so when I took the practice test I got a 34 on it and around 25 for all the other sections. But once I study for those I think my composite score should be around a 32 or 33.

@ak2018 ^

@ivakk Hey! Welcome to CC! My state also requires us to take the February 28th ACT and my friends and I are planning to take the March 11th SAT, too. Although the gap is a little close, I think it’s better than taking the May 6th SAT in the midst of AP week and the June 3rd should be reserved for SAT Subject Tests.

@angelwings0137 Thanks!

So I just watched that one Spongebob episode about procrastination and I related to the episode so badly! :))

@ak2018 Same! I have a test to study for and two papers to write but I have 0 motivation

Hello to all!! This is my first post on this thread (and like my fourth post on CC overall). I just want a community where I can stress with like minded people lol

@shapeofyou I’m not from Cali, unfortunately, but thanks for the offer. :slight_smile:

@kassh4 I was thinking about QuestBridge, but I doubt I’m in the top 5-10% of my class, my high school is crazy competitive… I guess it wouldn’t hurt to try though!

@TACOBOO Hi!

@nerdloved Welcome!

So yesterday I kinda whined about my C+… Well today I woke up at 4 PM and found out that my Pre-Calc teacher added my extra credit, participation, and homework assignments to my quarter 2 grade, raising it to an 89… and my semester grade to an 80!! My AP Lang teacher also added an essay to my quarter 2 grade, making that semester grade an 89.7, which PowerSchool counts as an A-! As long as I didn’t screw up with my midterm, I should get an A- this semester! Everything was going wrong but it seems like it will work out for the best! :smiley:

@bubblylaugh That’s exactly my reasoning for the March date as well! Thanks. And speaking of subject tests, which ones do you plan on taking?

Looking into the program, I think I could walk on to the wrestling team at Williams. If I could contact the coach and get interest, hopefully that would help with admission and then I’d have to consider the school a lot more carefully.

@ivakk I’m going to take Math II, US History, and possibly Physics. You?

@bubblylaugh I’m not 100% set on which ones but I’m leaning towards Literature since I want to double major in English and History (I plan on going to law school). I still have the second part of my american history class to take first semester senior year so I can’t take US History just yet, so maybe world history?

@LeaopardFire I was also about thinking applying to Questbridge also, although I don’t know if I’ll be good enough

Hey guys so started the Chemistry Subject Test study group thread. Please bookmark it if you want to join :)!!

REALLY IMPORTANT INFO FOR SOME OF Y’ALL!

Questbridge College Prep is a program for Juniors with an app that opens in early February! Possibly even this week. The majority of CP scholars are selected for NM/RD. The college prep application is essentially the same application you’d fill out as a senior. Really early start to college apps.
