@carmen00 I’ll be visiting on the 14th! Have fun and enjoy such a wonderful city! It’s one of my favorite places.
Anyone visiting Penn State this summer???
@Carwood I plan to! I was supposed to visit last month but it was snowing and I got sick, so we decided that we’ll probably visit during the summer.
I finished 13 reasons yesterday, and i noticed how diverse the cast is. Seriously, two (2) asian main characters like tht is wildt! But seriously, around half of the main cast r POC and there are like 3 gay main characters, im living
Hey guys. So, I didn’t make it, but that’s okay. Sort of. Not really. I didn’t update immediately 'cause I was still in denial…probably still am. Two of my friends made it- one in my grade made it for IChO(and I’m really jealous because his rank is like #2 and mine is #4. #1 didn’t make it, but was alright. #3 spent all night crying, and that made me feel marginally better - am I a horrible person?) and the other one made it for the IBO.
So anyway, it’s over. It was a pretty fun experience. And maybe I’ll try again next year.
Btw, I’ve been making a list of schools too:
University of Alabama
MIT
Washington and Lee
Minerva
I’m mostly looking for schools with sweet FA
Something my calculus teacher said today that I wanted to share: “I’m so tired that the f prime of my brain is negative. Its function is decreasing.”
Hi everyone, I have a small predicament and could use some advice. I would make a new post but I feel like I’ll get better/more answers here. I hope it’s not too confusing:
Okay so basically, my senior year I am planning to take either AP Physics or AP Bio.
The AP Physics teacher and class are amazing, and its a good senior year class because it has a light HW load while Bio is known for having a rough load/intense teacher at my school. Also, I’ve already taken classes in both Chem and Bio (either at school or at CC) so physics is the only science I haven’t taken a class in yet.
The issue is that basically, at my school you need to be in Honors Pre-Calc in order to take AP Physics, but not AP Biology. Technically, right now I am on track to take HPC next year, because I am in AP Stats right now and the next class is HPC. However, at the end of last year I decided to continue my math track at community college instead, because that way I could finish Pre-Calc AND Calc AND Multivariable by the end of senior year, which I wouldn’t be able to do if I just settled for HPC senior year (My school wouldn’t let me take Honors Pre Calculus junior year and the only other option was AP Stats). So really, this is my last year taking math at my own high school (even though I’m continuing at CC). So while I will have Pre-Calc knowledge, it won’t be the class at my school, and usually my school wont let you take AP Physics without also concurrently taking the HPC AT my school, because they don’t accept CC courses as alternatives for our school’s prerequisites.
SO- is it worth it to basically retake Pre-Calc at my school senior year, even though I would be far ahead of that in CC courses, just to take AP Physics? OR should I take AP Biology, even though I’ve already taken a bio class at my CC as well which counts for college credit, but is probably harder. Assuming my school doesn’t allow me to use the CC course as my HPC prereq, is it worth the waste of time of spending a whole year of retaking Pre-Calc at school just for AP Physics?
Can you take physics at the college instead?
For anyone interested in Williams College, they have a program where if you’re accepted, you get to spend three all-expenses-paid days at the college. More info is at this link: admission . williams . edu/WOW (remove spaces)
I think taking the CC courses is a good idea. My school doesn’t have AP calc and physics and I’m taking HPC senior year and I should’ve kept going in CC and do HPC in fall and Calc 1 spring.
Oh well can’t change the past just gonna start with calc and physics 1 at university this fall.
CAN SOMEONE HELP ME ON THIS?!?!?
Ok. I completed everything and anything there was for this application. I completed the summer scholarship program and submitted everything before the deadline. I was even given a message saying “thanks for submitting” for the scholarship. Later on at around 5 p.m., I recieved an email saying that I have not completed the application. Can someone either help me or lead me in the right direction to discuss or fix this problem.
@QUESTBR1DGE I’m sorry to hear that. I would say tomorrow contact the Questbridge staff first cause they’re really the only ones who can actually fix any problem occurring. The email they sent could also just be an automated email, cause after my teacher submitted his recommendation, I got an email saying to remind my teacher to submit his recommendation.
Also, the people on the Questbridge applicant thread would be more likely to help you with all this rather than on here.
Hey guys, if you have the time I found one post on this website and though I’d share it. It made me feel really inspired for the years to come and I though it would do the same for you all.

Just got my Calculus textbook in the mail
It’s funny how I’m learning Calculus while still being in an introductory Pre-Calculus course at my school (because I can’t skip courses and take higher-level ones apparently)!
@acomfysofa does your school allow you to test out of a class? at my high school, you’re allowed to challenge a course. If you get a certain grade on the final, you don’t have to take it. Some people are doing that for a required technology course, but I took it this year and basically used that class as a study hall lol.
Also, my school has precalc, but most people don’t take it. Most students go from honors trig to dual enrollment Calc and then to AP Calc only because most colleges don’t accept credit from college courses taught by a high school teacher.
I got into SSP!!! I was not expecting this to happen, especially since I was rejected from YSPA. My mom thought something was wrong when I called her sobbing. lol I’m so excited to go to Colorado this summer!
I got into SSP Biochem but I can’t do it cause I committed to NIDDK already. I think the NIDDK program is better for me though cause I can stay home and I get paid, but it’s nice to see that I got into a really selective program just for kicks.
Is anyone else on SB??
@julia35002 I AM! its so hard for me to be motivated and start studying for my AP exams coming up in less than 3 weeks. All i want to do is watch tv and sleep but my ap prep books are haunting me.
@csunshine91 omg same!!! I literally just want to relax for once and do things I can never do like watch netflix and read books!!
