High School Class of 2018

@Volunteerism @gigichuck I’m also wondering why to use one application over the other?

@solarsystem Calc 3 is usually a prereq to differential equations and sometimes linear algebra.

@snowfairy137 Ah ok, thanks!

@solarsystem Some people use both as a loophole to get around the common app’s 20 school limit. There’s also the Universal app, but it only has like 30 schools total.

I heard you can make more than one common app account to apply to 20+ schools. Is that legit?

@Hamlon
Thx

Happy Easter!!

Hi, I don’t post much, but I really want some advice. So I originally signed up for
Calc 3
AP Stats
AP Physics C
AP Environmental
AP Lit
AP Computer Science
Ceramic II (to fulfill the fine arts requirement for UC)

But my counselor told me that there won’t be an AP Computer Science class because not enough people signed up for it … now I don’t know what I should take. I already took most of the AP classes offered at my school. I could take AP Comp Sci at another school, but I’d have to have an off hour to travel back, which means I won’t be able to take ceramics. Or I could take AP Psychology (the teacher is bad though) or a random elective, but I’m worry that a regular class would lower my GPA (I am currently 2nd in my class, and I’m really close to being 1st). So, what should I do!?

Sorry for the long post!

I think AP Psychology is a good option because in general (in comparison to other APs) it is a fairly easy exam, even if your teacher is bad—especially if you care about your GPA.

AP psychology is fairly easy. I took the class this year online which was basically like teaching myself.

@ming3282

So, when you guys say you’re enrolled in these AP classes for half a semester how does that work? I’ve never heard of doing that and how do you learn everything you need for the test?

Happy Easter everyone!! Who doesn’t have school tomorrow?

@julia35002 I’m not sure about everyone else, but my school uses block scheduling so half a semester is the length of a normal course. The only issue is that if we have an AP first semester, we will need to review by ourselves to remember everything for the AP exam.

@julia35002 I don’t! I have vacation all this week!

@csastro @julia35002 thank you for responding! I’ll probably take AP psych

@julia35002 I was actually planning on taking AP Psychology online over the spring semester. I would think it would be much more fast-paced. I also don’t have school today and today is my last day of Spring Break. :((

I also finally finished my online college class in Earth System Science. I finally feel like I have Saturdays back. I’m probably just going to study for my AP exams. We’ll get the official summer academy notification next month.

@ak2018 Today’s my last day too. :frowning:

@julia35002 For me, only AP Macro and US Gov are half a semester at my school, but the same teacher teaches both, so he goes over everything at the end of the year from what I’ve heard
