I just tried to log in on the common app and when I get to step 4: registration type and I press the continue button it says error… hmmm
same thing happens to me @madison2000
The common app seems to only be working for a small number of people rn. I’m not one of them, but it worked for a few redditors.
Blargh there’s already common app problems. My school uses Naviance for letters of recommendation from teachers however one of my (REQUIERED) teacher letters of rec I’m getting from a college professor so his name doesn’t show up in Navaince… I feel like I’m gonna have to send in paper letters of rec or something for this. Boo.
Gah. Why is this happening? Common App, I’ve been waiting all week.
Okay I’m in!
@madison2000 I have the same error. This is so frustrating
I thought the common app would be working by the morning! ugh. i just wanted to see if any of the essay prompts changed.
Well kids, it was nice knowing you! :)) Why do I feel like today is the start of a long and stressful journey?! :))
I’m having the same error message. Ugh! The one time I have some free time this week, and this happens!!!
The common app is working for now, but for some reason American’s college-specific questions aren’t coming up? Is anyone else applying there and having this problem?
huh, @papaya12 how did you get it to work? did you have to go through the rollover page or did you create a new account? I am going through roll over and it still says “error while processing request”
I just want to start making spreadsheets of essay prompts lol
Same problem here for the common app
@LushLillies I had to roll over my account, it wasn’t working for me at first but I just waited a while and it started working again.
I finally made a google doc for my essay drafts. The two prompts I am going to at least draft have something to do with NASA or space. I am very obsessed.
I got my common app working in the early early hours of the morning. FYI for those who are disappointed it’s not working… logging in and it showing up everything is very anti-climatic. If you really think about this process you put hours and hours into an application and four years of hard work for (most of the time) an email or notification on a website.
do you think talking about being a vegetarian (despite cultural norms, my family has a poor health history and I want to change that) or being an ally to the LGBT community are acceptable supplemental essay topics? are those too controversial? this would be for a “not on the resume” supplement.
thank you
I can’t believe we’re applying to college already! I guess it’s time to start drafting those essays. I have a general idea of what I want to write about but it’s so hard talking about myself.
@LushLillies I like the vegetarian one! IMHO everyone should be an lgbt ally (although there’s still a disturbing lack of them atm). Isn’t it just the role of a decent human being to respect and protect others’ differences? But if you have a huge involvement in the movement (organize rallies, gay straight alliance clubs, etc) then it would make a pretty good essay.
@agentaquastar thank you
I totally agree with you about how everyone should be an LGBT ally…I would just write my essay about how I inspired my peers (many who are highly conservative) and my family (mostly liberal but uneducated on LGBT issues) to be open-minded and accepting…but I might just go with the vegetarian one since it is something that is more central to my identity!
