@MangoLover11223 Hi! I’ve done NHD for years all the way up to Nats. Your questions depend on what category of event you’re participating in. Some require you to be there, others do not. I think you’d need to have a teacher to sign you up through the school (I’ve always done it this way) but it may not be needed. Ask a history teacher at your school to help you sign up, perhaps. Also, depending on the category, you don’t have to do a group.
Finished my last application! I won’t be completely relieved until I know all my college transcripts are received though It’s nice to know that I’m done with all my essays and everything.
Tomorrow I’m going to an Eagles game! I’m a huge football lover. Wish I could’ve gone to one earlier in the season, but I’m still excited. No better way to end 2017!

So I was super tired today but needed to finish a book and write 400 more words for an English paper. I decided not to take a nap and just work through the whole day. I just looked at the rubric and realized that it’s due on the fifth. Not tomorrow. I’m so mad at myself right now. I gave up some solid end-of-break sleep for this paper.
Just wanted to say good luck to those doing RD! No matter what happens, you’re all amazing people! I wish you the best!
@carmen00 At least you will be able to get your sleep during the school week! I have a paper due on the 4th, but I did the stupid thing and put it off… I would probably be okay with just turning in my rough draft, but my teacher makes us hand in both for comparison’s sake. >:P
I called the admissions office for Mount Holyoke today. Turns out it’s completely fine if my counselor agreement is in late! ^^’ My counselor emailed me this morning saying that she uploaded it, so now all I have to do is wait!!
Its been a while (for me, at least), so does anyone want to share where they are applying or where they are attending? I’ve been accepted into Eastern Connecticut State University and Ithaca so far, and I’m waiting for UConn (only RD), Smith (RD), and Simmons (EAII). I’m still working on my Emerson app (RD), and once my guidance counselor’s agreement is in, I will have all need to be considered for Mount Holyoke EDII. 
Also, how did everyone spend their break? I mostly stressed about my Mount Holyoke predicament and binged My Hero Academia. Not sure if there are any anime fans here, but I highly recommend MHA, it is absolutely amazing. It’s nice to have something take my mind off of all the stress in my life right now. :’)
@LeopardFire I applied to 10 schools: U of Idaho (accepted), U of Nevada-Reno (accepted), Colorado School of Mines (accepted), Harvard (SCEA, deferred), Yale, Princeton, MIT, Syracuse, Dartmouth, and Boston University. I spent my break finishing my applications, skiing, doing homework, taking care of my grandma, and going to Wyoming (twice). It’s been a good time, with more to come, bc I don’t go back to school until Monday.
I applied to MIT, Princeton, and Dartmouth last night!! I’m so happy that the process is almost over with. All I have left are to turn in my supplements for Dartmouth and my application for Caltech by the 3rd. I also have to turn in my music portfolios for MIT and Dartmouth. I might apply to Cornell tonight if I can get my homework done quickly and my mom is willing to shell out $100 for the app and to send my scores. I might even apply to Arizona as another safety.
Winter break didn’t feel like a vacation. I rested for a few days, had family stuff for Christmas and my sister’s birthday, and then worked on supplements for 3 days straight. I also got sick on the 30th, making things worse when trying to get everything done. I want a do over, but I fell satisfied with completing (most of) my applications. I also watched season 2 of The Crown on Netflix, which I greatly enjoyed.
I actually just had what was probably the laziest winter break ever! Turns out getting into college really does give you instant senioritis. I ended up sending out a few more apps, but honestly, I don’t care about them as much as I love my early school. For once, I didn’t have homework over break either, so looks like I’ll just be watching more Netflix and finally reading Jane Austen novels again.
@LeopardFire I’m applying to 6 schools and have heard back from 4: Emerson College (RD, still working on the application), Elmira (EA, accepted), The College of Saint Rose (EA, accepted), Kent State University (Rolling, accepted), SUNY Geneseo (RD, waiting to hear from), and SUNY Fredonia (Rolling, accepted). This break I read Goblet of Fire, went to Canada to visit family, and did all the homework I had due last night :))
Anyone submit their senior quotes yet? Mine is, “A well-read woman is a dangerous creature.”
(Funny story: my friend actually had that quote ready, while I was planning to use, “Well-behaved women seldom make history.” But alas, I am certainly not the rebellious type, and while we’re both literary and love social studies, I’m more of “the writer” and she’s off to study History at King’s College London next year. A good switch, I think! )
