High School Class of 2018

I’m very excited for the Super Bowl!! People are super hyped where I live. GO PATS!!!

@nephilim13 Welcome! I applied to 12 (maybe 13) schools:

  • UMaine (accepted w/ honors)
  • CU Boulder (accepted w/ honors and Chancellor’s Achievement Scholarship)
  • Case Western (rejected rip)
  • Fordham (deferred - withdrew since I wouldn’t attend if accepted and that spot could go to someone who’d attend)
  • Caltech
  • Colby
  • Dartmouth
  • McGill (rejected Fac. of Science, waiting on Schuilich School of Music)
  • MIT
  • Princeton
  • UMichigan
  • WSU
  • might apply to Arizona (idk yet and I probably wouldn’t get good aid)

Where’d you apply?

I was deferred ED from Brown, accepted UMaine engineering w/ honors & scholarship, accepted WPI for biomedical engineering with 32k per year presidential scholarship (total $128,000). I applied to Northeastern, Bowdoin, Colby, Smith, Dartmouth, and Tufts EDII. Should be hearing from Tufts this upcoming week–yikes!!! Recently, there was this thing in the portal where some people got an option to send in their $600 enrollment deposit. It was a mistake that happened as they were updating their software or something and I was one of the people who got it in my portal. I’m trying not to overthink it but I’m totally overthinking it lol. I hope it’s a good sign! I just want to be done.

@frazzledazzle I applied to all the ivies and MIT (I know they are such reaches but I just had to apply). I’m expecting a lot of rejections :(( . I’m also applying to my state school in colorado, University of Florida, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Hamilton, and Vassar.

I wish you all the best of luck!

@katebnotkatie For skidmore did you apply for financial aid? and if you dont mind can you share your gpas sats etc? I luv skidmore

Guys I’m really worried about being able to pay for college. Out of the 4 schools I’ve been accepted to so far, 3 have given me my financial aid package and Elmira is down to ~$10k, Saint Rose is down to ~$7k, and SUNY Fredonia is down to ~$5k (per semester) and I can’t pay for nearly that much. My parents won’t pay for college for me or even help a little bit, and this is including my federal loans. I don’t qualify for the Pell grant because my EFC was just barely above the max cutoff.

I need to contact Saint Rose because their merit scholarship was lower in the package than the one they told me I was going to get earlier when I got my acceptance letter, which will dramatically impact my COA ($9500 per semester in scholarships rather than the $5500 they reported in my aid packet). But still, I can’t afford to pay $5k, much less a little more than that.

I’m getting a job in March and plan to work full time during the summer, and I’m applying to a bunch of scholarships, too, but I’m afraid I won’t get enough money for any of my colleges. I don’t mean to sound entitled or anything, but if I have to go to community college I might have a mental breakdown, because I don’t think I can live in my house longer than I have to.

This being said, I have to hear back about my financial aid from one college, and I have 2 colleges to hear back about my acceptance or rejection still. I’m freaking out… can you guys give me some insight?
