I’m regretting that candy cell membrane
Made a 93 on my chem exam (one arithmatic mistake form a 97%, 2 mistakes total :P). This was the second highest score in my class, so I’m pretty happy.
My calc exam… p.p
I’d just gotten supersick, so I was already off my game going in. I ended up with an 80% (okay) because I missed a whole page of the test. Yikes!
The rest of it I lost no points on p.p
My calc professor apologized, and said she noticed it looked super weird. It’s not really a big deal, though, 'cuz I know the material well and haven’t lost points(!!!) until now. Next exam and the final will balance it out if I keep up the good work.
As for my technical report for the chem lab, my partner and I were the only ones to figure out the right answer! I’m pretty sure we aced it. 0.0
After a 15-page report, that feels really quite good.
Middling week academically, but my grades are still in great shape and my blips are reasonable given those health troubles. Time to kick it into high gear for the semester’s finish.
Meanwhile, I’ve been doing way better on AMC problems! I can regularly handle three or four past problem 13 on the 12 now, which is so much better than when I started p.p
now to practice for the SAT
“15-page report”
Yikes
@Shanban1607 Shouldn’t it depend on what is being said rather than the volume of voice? Also, if it’s a one time offense, it seems over dramatic to call it verbal abuse but if its repeated, its understandable.
I personally think that yelling should be defined as verbal abuse when it is repeated and leaves the victim with a lowered value of self.
@ElloLove I had a test in APUSH the other day. The multiple choice questions are so hard for me!
@ElloLove That’s a great point, I honestly didn’t think about that. Thanks for your view
Brief academic update for me: my only grade lower than an A is an 85 in AP Chem right now… We have another test on Monday and I honestly feel so underprepared. I think my class will be getting together on Sunday for 5 hours to study… It will be so worth it. I really hope I do well.
Good luck @Shanban1607!
still a sophomore and so much can change in a year in running, but my dilemma is that i could get into a way better school based on my academics (though not enough to get a scholarship), but with my rate of development in running i might be able to get into a good NCAA D2 school assuming no major injuries. every large school is D1, though (like every UC/CSU), and unless i SERIOUSLY improve, very few people in the state are that good to get into a D1 as an athlete. at the very best, without a running miracle, i might be able to get into an out-of-state D1 school.
i ran a 4:57 1600 freshmen year in track. the slowest from UCLA last year ran a [converted] 4:23. i have a chance, but that’s a lot to make up in the three years i have left. i’m expecting somewhere in the 4:40s for my sophomore track season, so we’ll see. the lower the better my chances, lol.
i would love to pursue a college career in running, but it’s way more simpler and convenient for me to just go to a UC (in-state) as a normal student, get a stronger education and have a good path into med school.
but i’m not sad that my chances are bad. last year, i was one of the slowest people on my team. i ran a 22:30 3-mile at my first race, ending the season with a 19:30. this year i opened up with a 16:58, and now i’m down to 16:33 with a few more fast races (including this wednesday!) to get that even lower. you don’t see an improvement like that very often. part of that is because my coach has been amazing for our team - i would run varsity in almost any other school in california, but we’re so stacked i’m not even JV, top 14.
My home high school (the high school I would’ve gone to if I wasn’t accepted to my current school) almost had a shooting. Apparently this boy brought a .38 caliber g u n to school with five rounds. If security hadn’t noticed a gun shaped object and if they hadn’t found it when he hid it under the bleachers, kids would’ve died
Yikes. That’s really scary.
This week my school had a gun scare. It was in the morning so there were tons of people in the bus parking lot when something that sounded like gun fire went off and everyone started running. I was in class like 3 feet where this was happening and I could hear a stampede of feet. Turns out it was fireworks that some boys brought to school as a joke. Love my school!!
@ElloLove, that’s terrible!
and now i’m injured
Aw, what happened?
Yooo I just finished reading this webcomic broken telephone for maybe the 3rd time but I should be doing homework
Help
AP Chem study groups at Panera rock
nothing really “happened”, just developed IT band. no idea how long i’ll be out, but at least a week of full rest. probably more like two or three unless it’s more minor.
our top 10 for each grade were going to an invite and then to six flags too in two weeks… bummed out if i have to miss it
still a lot left in the season to get back after i recover tho, so not the worst thing that could happen.
went to the MIT info session for my state, everyone was so nice ;~;
only two peeps from my town attended, but we both went to the same middle school. Imagine that!
I met a cool friendo who’s doing a research paper on pulsars. He said those’re spinning neutrino stars. I’ll have to read about them now :7
the second most popular destination for students is Toscanini’s ice cream, and the fourth is the Nuclear Reactor Laboratory (which places over Chinatown and the aquarium).
the lady there says I should apply next year or wait for grad school p.p
on the bright side, the interviewer present liked me enough that she said I should call her if my first interview doesn’t pan out (she’s so sweet :0)
@awesomepolyglot it’s fifteen pages if you include the title and bibliography, at least >.>;
Dude why has no one ever told me how good chai tea lattes are
