High School Class of 2019

I have a math competition tomorrow! So excited!! I always love these competitions… :slight_smile:

Good luck @OMPursuit!

Oooh, what’s it called? There aren’t many around here. :0 @Mathophile26

I feel way more confident for that test today after doing some harder derivatives in class okay. Which is great, because test day is closing in…

SAT scores coming out on the 27th and I am not ready o~o
PSAT happening on the 19th and I am not ready ;~;

@OMPursuit I feel you :frowning: PSAT is next week, I’m totally underprepared for that, and I’m taking the sat math 2 in a few weeks in November ahhh
Also have a huge Calc test and World test tomorrow, oh boy

@OMPursuit, they’re called Mathletes competitions, where we compete with other high schools (20ish schools) in our general area. My PSAT is happening on the 15th, and I’m so unprepared. Nooooo…

Calc is getting much harder. It’s weird, because I really get a concept one day, and then the next day I’m completely confused, but then the day after that I grasp it again. I love it, though. I’m learning so much useful stuff. I never thought I would know what an integral or derivative was, plus I can do cool stuff like find the slope at a point on a graph and find the area under a curve. I’m such a math nerd :slight_smile:

Not ready for the PSATs next Wednesday :confused:

Took the #2 practice PSAT and I scored 1390 (out of 1520)! 690 on the English section and 700 in math. Just under a week until I take the real thing. I might take the #1 practice too if I have time.

omg yes @Mathophile26 it’s so lovely :smiley:
We’re just getting into calculus world problems(!)/applications and verging on linear approximation, and I’m quite excited. :>

One thing I’m especially enchanted by is how darn elegant so much of calculus is (and how much fun one can have with infinity). :smiley:

Y’all I’m so stressed out and my mom’s been yelling. Feelin kinda down.

@Shanban1607 what happened?

Ooh have fun @OMPursuit! I completely agree - it’s so elegant, especially with integrals :slight_smile:

@anan16 I have two huge tests I’m not prepared for, there’s a storm around (I’m terrified of storms), I had a fight with my best friend, and my mom was saying some pretty cruel things.

Yeah not my best day. :expressionless:

I think I’m getting sick again… Curse my weak immune system.
On the bright side though, school’s off tomorrow and I have straight A’s for the quarter! :slight_smile:

I feel like everyone’s just had an off day today haha

Maybe tomorrow won’t suck

I. Hate. Homework.

I’m so proud… ;~;

I just wrote my first original solution on AoPS p~p
good day

The Mathletes competition is over! We got 4th place. I had a lot of fun, but now I have to stay up until 12 to finish my homework.

I got a 1400 on Practice #2 with a 650 English and 750 Math. I missed like 6 questions on the history reading passages, so they need work (my command of evidence subscores was a 10).

@Mathophile26 I am taking on Saturday too. I do not think that many schools do Saturday because they have to pay we extra wages for proctors.

I took the reading section of PSAT practice #1 in English class and all my teacher told me was that I got 79% of the questions correct… does anyone know what this would translate to as a score?

@Shanban1607 It depends which sections you missed points in. If you got a 79% on each of the four sections, that would give you a Reading Test Score of 32, a Writing Test Score of of 31, and a Math Test Score of 640. This equals a composite score of 1270, which is in the 96 percentile for 10th graders and would not qualify you for a merit-based scholarship if you were a junior (your selection index would be a 195).
