does anyone know if taking a cbe (credit by exam) for precalculus is a good idea? i want to take ap stats or ap calculus next year, but don’t know if i should skip precal by learning rn and taking a test to see if i can pass it. also, how should i go about learning precal if i am taking alg 2 rn? by the book? a class? a tutor?
Here’s my sophomore schedule. It’s pretty reasonable to say that I go to a small, academically-advanced college prep school that offers only 1 ap (calculus ab).
English 10
Algebra 2
Bible
Adv. Band
Physical Science
Spanish 2
Study Hall
Geography
I’m hoping to pass all these classes (except study hall) with all A’s. Never in my life, I’ve never achieved an academic goal of earning all A’s so I have high hopes in doing so :).
Next year, well… if I do get accepted to my dream college prep school, I will take the following ap’s and honors classes:
AP Computer Science
AP US History or regular
Pre-Calculus H or calc ab if I take pre-cal over the summer
Chemistry H or regular
Spanish 3
English 11 a.k.a british lit semesters 1 and 2 (idk lol)
Bible
Band prob not lol.

It’s going to be 92 degrees when I race at Mt. SAC on Friday… RIP…
@anan16, I would not recommend taking precal as CBE. It is very important for calculus. Why not take precal in 11th and also takes AP stats at the same time.
Have any of you guys been on college visits yet? Something came up, and I have to revise my spring break plans… That’s still a while off, but I was thinking about maybe taking the time off to do a couple of visits
I’m doing DE and participating in clubs at my most likely destination, and that’s been extra awesome! That’s like a visit that never ends. p.p
Make extra sure to visit your safeties. Oftentimes, they’re really super neat! @northeastgirl24
@northeastgirl24 I visited a college in Chicago over the summer because we just happened to be in the area, and I’ll be visiting a college close to home next weekend. I think it’s pretty exciting!
@northeastgirl24 I’m going to Duke this friday with a friend. I can go anytime since it’s only 20 minutes away but I felt like going on a proper tour:)
i might visit princeton sometime this summer, not really interested in going but it is so close, so why not go haha
I go to UTK sometimes but for science olympiad so it doesn’t count
I think I just scared the crap out of @OMPursuit
My sophomore schedule:
- English II
- Geometry
- U.S. History
- Biology
- French I
- Physical Fitness
- Law & Order: Introduction to Legal Studies
- AP Psychology
- AP English Literature
In my 2nd semester, I’m dropping French for Latin I.
Law & Order is only a one semester class so in sem 2 I’m taking A/V Technology & Film Careers in place of it.
The PSAT is in two days, RIP.
@noplayallwork
Doesn’t even count for us.
I just had a dream in which it was open-ended and judged your life. After that, I went to go climb some ropes. (?)
Anyone here want to do a grade update? The first quarter just ended for me.
AP Calc AB - 94.8% We just had a test which I got an 82 on, that brought my grade down a bit.
AP Chem - 92.8% So happy with this one!! I worked very hard for that A.
AP World History - 90.31% I was slacking off this quarter lol
Choir - 100%
English 2 honors - 100.56% My teacher in this class gave me random extra credit for things I didn’t even know I did.
Orchestra - 100%
Woodshop 1 - 99.25% All 100s except for a 97 on a safety test lol
@Shanban1607 I don’t understand the point of this can you please enlighten me
The nine weeks ended for me last friday, making today the first day of the second nine weeks… my math group was talking about college today and scared me for the future anyone else really miss elementary school?
@adiacs I dunno I always see the class of 2018 doing it, sorry if it’s not appropriate.
