High School Class of 2019

I finally took the PSAT this Saturday. It went pretty well :slight_smile:

@adiacs If you want to know why the 2018 thread does it, or at least my take on it, I can hopefully explain. I know it looks people are just showing off, and to an extent, maybe some are, but I like to think that giving an overview of our grades, we get a place to vent about our failures and successes. I get nervous when I have a C and everyone else seems to have straight A’s, but there is almost always someone you can sympathize with. Plus, it keeps you motivated to get better grades, since like it or not, you are seeing potential competition.

@Mathophile26, can you please share what your prep was. And what gave you the biggest bang for the buck, ie, such as Khan, Erica Metzler reading and/or grammar books, PWN the sat, etc.

We plan to do heavy prepping the summer before 10 grade and hitting even harder the summer before 11th grade. Any pearls would be very helpful.

have u guys been studying for PSAT 10? i have been so busy that I haven’t been able to really study since my sat classes in september. it doesn’t count right?

Guess who got dumped

@Shanban1607 no it’s just that on College Confidential people seem to be comparing themselves to other people all the time when there’s no need for it, obviously you’re not that type but I wish people didn’t feel the need to compare themselves to others to feel smarter or better.

@awesomepolyglot Aw I’m sorry babe

Colleges won’t see your PSAT and only your Junior PSAT (if you take it then) will count for anything (NMSQT). @anan16

@anan16 It’s good preparation, but the PSAT in sophomore year doesn’t really count for anything.

However, I was under the original impression that the PSAT 10 was in spring, and the NMSQT PSAT was in fall. I’m quite confused here…

@awesomepolyglot rip ):

PSAT tomorrow! I have done zero prep and plan to take a practice test this afternoon to get an idea of where I would place. It sucks that it doesn’t count for anything, but it’s good practice!

@anan16, I never took precalculus and I am doing just fine in AP Calculus AB!

I mean
We’re still good friends, there was just no chemistry. Makes sense.

I’m actually really excited for the PSAT!!! I don’t know why, but I actually really like taking tests like that.

I had a dream last night about it. I was kind of roaming around and the timing was weird, but all I was worried about was remembering the reading passages for memes. Yikes.

I took the practice psat my school gave us and was happy w my score so i’m not really stressing
just upset that were having class afterwards and I’ll have a english test ugh

we had to write a dbq in apush today and im actually surprised im not dead

Don’t forget to charge your calculators if you’re taking the PSAT tomorrow!

I don’t know why sophomores are getting so nervous about the PSAT, I know some people have testing anxiety but it’s not like it actually counts for anything this year

I’m so sorry @awesomepolyglot :frowning:

@VANURSEPRAC, I just used Khan Academy, but nothing much in terms of prep. Practice tests helped me a lot, as they were very similar to the actual test and quite accurate (although I would say they were slightly easier than the actual PSAT).

@adiacs It actually counts for me because a summer program I am applying to (wow I live in the future) wants to see standardized test scores, so I ought to have something good to show them if I want to get in.

It’s homecoming week so we don’t get much homework

I spent 4 hours on khan academy earlier

This is my favorite thing about homecoming week

@awesomepolyglot I personally hate homecoming because the music is too loud to talk to anybody, and a good fraction of people dance in the most sexual ways possible towards the center of the room, overall a pretty lame experience. How’s it like in your school?
