High School Class of 2020

Check if your HS does an in-school SAT/ACT. I would take that into consideration, especially since some schools offer the test for free.

Hey everyone! Hope your summer is starting off well/school year is ending well. This might be the last time I post on CC for a while, since I’m trying to take a break at least over the summer. I did extremely well this semester, which was not what I was expecting, but my gradebook looks like eye candy now lol.

I have yet to take the SAT or ACT, for those of you who are talking about it. I could take the SAT in August, but that’s not going to happen, knowing me… Maybe the one in October then. Plus, as a rising junior, I haven’t taken the PSAT that actually counts for National Merit Scholar, so I don’t know if I should wait to take the actual SAT until after or not.

Anyway, I’ve noticed a lot of people posting their schedules here. All your schedules look really good! As for me, I’m only planning to take 2 APs next year: AP Calculus and APUSH. I wanted to take AP Euro instead of APUSH because it sounds more interesting, but US History is a requirement and European isn’t, so I’m going with APUSH instead. I’m also HOPING to take dual-credit Psychology junior year, which would enable me to take the AP Psych test should I choose. I can only take dual-credit Psych if I take an online college English class this summer, which I want to do, but I still have to work out a few kinks in that plan. For one, there’s the issue of money. I wouldn’t want my parents to pay for an online college class if it wouldn’t for-sure transfer, since I don’t know where I’m going to go to college. Also, I haven’t actually applied yet (mainly because of that money issue), and even though there wasn’t a deadline on the website, I should do that sooner than later if it all works out.

I’ll probably start my APUSH summer homework tomorrow to try to get some of it out of the way lol. I have to read quite a bit, write 2 one-pagers, and I believe write an essay on top of that. Do you all have summer homework too?

Do your APUSH homework as soon as possible! All the time! Don’t do it the period before it’s due!

My school does the in-school SAT after switching over from the ACT. @ab2002 I was planning to take the one in October and my school does a mandatory one in April so that was my plan. I was just worried about the ACT because I do not know how my workload will interfere with studying schedule

You got your summer homework already? Lucky! I have AP Lang summer hw, and we have to turn in the assignments over the summer with Edmodo. I do not know when I receive my Pre-Calc HW though…usually, they unhide it on website mid-summer?

I got all of my summer homework, but I’m not going to start it for another two weeks.

I still have a week of school left before finals, but teachers are already starting to hand out summer homework for next year. I have a packet for calc, chapter 1 of my physics book + problems, 4 books to read for english, questions for chem, and a chapter of APUSH + a supplementary text and an essay. I’m probably not going to start any of it until I finish up all my summer programs, so not until August. And I’m taking the August SAT, leaving my last weeks of summer very busy.

@goneaway I’m definitely gonna take the ACT. Probably in December or February and I’m hoping I can get it one take. Most kids in the northeast still take the SAT but even if in Michigan more people take the ACT, it doesn’t matter. Just pick the one that you’re better at. I’m just taking the ACT because I don’t like the SAT essay prompts.

@Max147 I wanted to take both to see how I would do because I do not know what test is better for me

@goneaway Then take the official practice tests online. There’s no point in wasting almost 120 dollars just to see which test you like better. Use KhanAcademy and the ACT website, and you can see which one you would do better on.

@pineapplesSFL If all goes well, I will be taking it August. If not, I will go for the October date.

Have a good day!

wow you guys get out so early. I’m still in school until June 20th

anyway here’s my junior year schedule, what do you guys think

AP Language
AP World History
Physics
AP Biology
Genetics
Forensic Lab/Medical Science (1/2 semester each)
Precalculus
AFROTC 1

@goneaway do what @ab2002 suggested

@moviestar505 It looks great! I took AP World this year, so if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Have a good day!

Has anyone taken AP Chem?

@Candyblossom1245 Nope, but I’m taking it online next year. I’m worried because nobody at my school has taken it.

@trumpetmathgeek I was going to review regular chemistry on Khan Academy because I don’t remember anything from Chem.

@Candyblossom1245 nope i’m probably self studying this year

This summer I’m going through a regular chemistry textbook because my class didn’t cover much.
