High School Class of 2020

I took it this year. The class covered two semesters of college chem. Wasn’t so bad for me. Others from my class thought it was hell though. Remember to get a prep book early and study.
@candyblossom1245

AP Chem isn’t really difficult at all if you’re good at basic (and I do mean basic algebra) as well as memorization and repetition.

Anybody have experience with self studying AP comparative government?

I want to make a quick announcement. This has been said many times on this forum. STUDYING FOR AP EXAMS (NOT TAKING THE CLASS) IS NOT GOING TO HELP YOU SIGNIFICANTALLY IN THE COLLEGE PROCESS. They might not even look at it… at all. I just want everyone to be aware, because there is no point in studying outside of school, when you could take an extra AP at school.

@ab2002 I don’t go to a competitive high school, so few APs are available. Comp gov will be the third AP I self study, none of which I pursued to “help in the college process”. I only self study for courses I am interested in and wouldn’t have access to otherwise, and the credits earned will help with priority registration at my state U, should I choose to attend. Not everybody has the opportunity to take an extra AP at school. You shouldn’t assume that.

@ab2002 I’m mainly just doing it for the possibility of college credits and so I don’t have to take them at school because some of the AP teachers are terrible. There’s also other courses I want to take at school. And you also realize there’s a limit to the amount of AP’s you’re allowed to or should take at each high school. I mean, I want to continue foreign language and jazz band and I can only take 7 classes. I’m also required to take a certain amount of classes in other subjects in order to graduate so I’m maxed out in terms of APs. And although I don’t know how much it helps in college admissions, it can’t hurt and at least demonstrates a love for learning and challenging yourself. Even if it isn’t significant, any bit helps.

Good luck on everyone’s finals, whenever you take them!

Have a good day!

@excoverer was you’re account formerly anthonytheboy?

@Max147 Yes, I was, but I changed it due to privacy reasons. When I joined the site initially, I did not think about my privacy. I wanted to remain anonymous from now on, so I got it to change.

Have a good day!

Does anyone know of a good genetics online program? I’m really interested in taking the course.

@SaraiM1 I don’t know if any structured genetics courses but you might be able to find a decent one at your local community college and there are plenty of resources online. You might also want to look into programs such as Harvard Extension which gives anybody the opportunity to take in person classes taught by Harvard Professors at night. However, I don’t know if you live close enough to a program like that or even if other programs like that exist.

@SaraiM1 I don’t know any either, and I apologize for that, but @Max147 has a good answer. I completely agree with his answer!

Have a good day!

is anyone here interested in george washington university? i’m trying to do their ba/md program and it would be really cool to meet someone else who’s thinking about going there as well

@nme2002 I’m looking at Georgetown, but I might look at GWU.

AP SCORES ARE OUT IN LESS THAN 3 WEEKS

@nme Nope. My parents either want me to get a scholarship from BU or get into a top 30 school. Otherwise I’m going to UMass Amherst. I’m really not trying to go to UMass though, since I cannot imagine going to school in the middle of nowhere. I have thought about BA/MD programs too though, but I’m not sure I want to make that sort of a commitment so early, and most of the people who get into those combined programs at less prestigious schools would probably be able to get into a top med school.

I am visiting Northwestern and Notre Dame next week!

@ab2002 How many visits have you been on and are they all official visits with guided tours? This also goes for everybody else. I’m just curious to see how far along everybody else is.

Hi everyone! I recently attended NSDA nationals (as in, just got back today), and it was an amazing experience. For those of you on the fence about whether or not to join speech and debate, I totally 100% recommend it. The experience is invaluable and irreplaceable.

I’m pleased because I definitely learned a lot, and alongside that, I became the first person from my state to make it into elim rounds (“break”) in almost two decades. I won’t say which state for identity purposes, but I’m definitely ecstatic.

@phanakin what type of debate do you do? I do pf!

@collegeready33: I do Original Oratory and Policy debate! I’ll be trying out Lincoln-Douglas this year, though.
