HKU or HKUST

I got a conditional offer at HKUST BElectronic Eng…(and am a pakistani)
got an e-mail today…
do they tell about scholarships later?

is there anyone who is still waiting for HKU?
i applied around mid january but i still didn’t hear anything from them.
currently i’m totally freaking out. aggghhhhh

I still haven’t heard from them too :))
I applied a day before the deadline though :P

@sonotcool & penguin92 what programme did you apply for? I applied on the very last day (Feb 1st I think it was) and got replied to in the end of March. Think it replies can land in your mail even in July, so could be a long wait, probably depending on the programme and the amount of ppl applying to it. Wish you luck! :)

I haven’t gotten a decision from them yet too… I applied by early March and had all my stuff in by mid-March.

wowww hkust is now the second best uni in asia according to QS rankings 2010!

jiceo1
are you talking about hkust or hku?
i think deadline for hku was feb 1st, so if you submitted your application late, you are most likely going to have to wait longer because they will consider you only after they have made decisions for all on-time applicants.

I’m talking about HKUST. I submitted before their second deadline, by no means late. They have till the end of this month to give me a decision.

Hey, anyone non-locals here who got accepted into Dentistry at HKU?

I just got accepted recently and am looking for advice on accommodation nearby the Prince Philip Dental Hospital… the uni halls seem so far away.

hevonik, grats on getting into Dentistry.

Do you mind me asking how old you are?? Like did you apply after HS or undergrad?

Did anyone get in to Medicine for HKU??

Is anyone here?? The thread seems more or less dead…

hey kyubaek let’s get this thread going haha
have you made up your decision between HKUST’s GBUS and HKU’s IBGM?

Yeah, hello kyubaek90! so wat did u decide? Um stuck wid the same problem deciding between the 2 unis for Econ nd Finance major! Although got a g8 schorlaship from UST… but still wat can top HKU? any advices…

oldnite1, Muntasir: Yeah, I’m going to HKU IBGM…

Figured since I intend on doing Masters and Ph.D, HKU would be a better choice…

Kyubaek niceee
which one is better do you think? I got offers from UST’s Global Business and HKU’s Accounting and Finance. UST GLobal Business seems better right?

Oh and one more question, I submited 2 applications for HK STudent Visa (one for HKUST and one for HKU). What happens to HKU’s visa application if I decided to go UST instead of HKU? would i have to go through any procedures myself or will the university just cancel the sponsor? O.o

oldnite1: HKU will go thru the visa for you just like HKUST.

If it’s Global Business vs A&F, then I think Global Business. But if you intend on going further

with you studies, then HKU is also a good choice.

hey guys, one of my classmates told me that he phoned the admission and asked them about the application, they said that the first round of selection is over and if you have got 5 A* they will consider to give you an interview, that’s so ridiculous!!!

why they do not reject us now?? and why they keep us waiting???

@ Kyubaek- Dude, wat do u think HKU or UST for Econ nd Finance. Just to add up, got a lot of funding from ust! but my heart always goes for HKU lol

cherry1: I heard that some ppl even get their offers in August. It’s because some of the ppl

that have received offers aren’t 100% going to HKU. Some reject directly, and even some who have payed the

deposits may go to other unis. If only the first batch of selection is over, you shouldn’t give up on yourself yet.

Some ppl who have received their offers in the first batch may decide to reject HKU and go

elsewhere. If more ppl do decide likewise, then the second batch will open, and

those with the best scores on the waiting list will be contacted. It’s just the way it works.

(The way that I know of anyway…) But I do admit, HKU is especially slow in giving out offers…

The school starts in September and the letter of admission in August?? How ridiculous…
