HKU or HKUST

Quick question- How do I send the result to the university? Btw um on conditional offer

muntasir
you can either ask the testing agency to send the scores to unis straightaway or you can email the uni your password/pin number/URL for the online website to view your scores.

@ oldnite- Edexcel doesnt provide services regarding sending scores outside UK. In this case, i’ll have to email the uni with the necessary info.

Thanks Dude :-)

Btw u goin to HKU or UST?

Hello everyone~!
I’ve been following this thread for quite a while…
I’ve been wondering, will you guys be going to the orientation camps?
How do you feel about them?

Hey sashasss, I think the orientation camps seem like fun, and a good opportunity to get to know the people you are going to live with in the hall! I don’t really know what you actually do in the orientation camp, other than getting to know people. Beacuse its an orientation CAMP, maybe you go camping?

Because of the job I’m going to have this summer, Im going to come to Hong Kong a bit later than I originally planed, so Im not sure I’ll be there early enough to attend the orientation camp, so not yet sure if I will be going.

what about you, what are your thoughts about the orientation camps?

Hey !
@AlecDluz - Actually I’m in the same situation as you with regard to my summer job and arriving late. I’ve booked my tickets to arrive in HK the morning of August 27th. (It was also the cheapest) Word is that the earliest check in date for the orientation camp is August 24th. While the actual orientation begins the 25th. I haven’t received the information package yet, so I don’t know for sure!

muntasir
hey, i am on conditional offer for both hku and hkust.
but my top choice is hkust because i currently hold a conditional offer from global business. but if not, hku will be it.

@ Oldnight- I hold conditional offer from both the uni too for the same major Eco nd Finance. I guess i’ll be ending up in HKU, this is all tat i wanted!

@ phoenix- Dude, wen does the orientation start? I have been searching for the ans but nothings written clearly… damn its getting late and ticket prices are increasing :-(

Btw ppl who are planning to join HKU, which hall did u guyz apply for?

I am pretty sure that the orientation camp starts earlier than that. I don’t know if it is different depending on the hall, but I think that the orientation is something like 10 days long (at least in some halls, not sure if thats the length in all halls. It is kinda long!). For instance, on the Starr Hall “newsfeed” scroll thing, you can see that the starr orientation began the 21 in 2009 and 2008.

According to the preparation booklet, the earliest check-in date is August 21:)

applied:

 1. Starr
 2. Suen Chi
 3. Lee Shau Kee

You?

I applied in:

St Jhon’s College

Star Hall

Suen Chi

It is very confusing as in which hall i will be able to get in and wen their orientation camp starts. Are you sure about the Star hall thingi?

Yeah, 100% sure! Its on their site: [Starr Hall Official Website](http://www3.hku.hk/starr/)

Agreed, the whole orientation camp thing is really confusing! I wonder if the orientation camp lasts for 10 days straight? If it does, I guess you miss the international orientation, which takes place the 29th (thats the date for last year atleast).

HKU International Orientation:

Orientation for non-local students coming in September 2010:

Date : August 27, 2010
Time : 10:00 am
Venue : Loke Yew Hall

SubInternational

My friend’s sister studies at HKUST and she’s going to have a breakdown. University of Stress and Tension is what it’s called. Their results is in a bell curve- it’s much more difficult to get great marks.

HKU. Gorgeous campus and lovely people. Great reputation.

Almost all engineering colleges are on a bell curve… Sometimes a 50% on an exam can be a B while 90% a B-…

I guess business courses in hk are really competitive

@AlecDluz: It seems the local ocamps lasts about 4 days. I’m still not sure about the exact date in which they will be held this year, but I will make sure to get more info about it next week.
I think it would be really cool to join them! Even though I’ve heard from friends that their activities might be somewhat “childish”, I, on the other hand, think it would be a great opportunity to get to know the locals… After all… what are we all here for??? To experience new things and get out of our comfort zone!!
It’s a shame that so many internationals will not be able to join… The Int’l ocamp doesn’t look that appealing to me for some reason…

Btw quick question, hows the hall life like, as in does it turn wild with the ladies. I hope the males and females have full access to each others floors! :stuck_out_tongue: :p

sashass - Yeah, it would be interesting to join the o camp! Still, I think we will get plenty of chances to get to know the locals and step out of our comfort zone, so I guess its not too bad if you arrive too late (its not like its the only chance to do those things, if you know what i mean:P).

Are you sure that it lasts 4 days?

I dont think the international orientation is an o camp, but rather an informational meeting.

btw, what are you going to study?

I’m on conditional offer to HKU’s BA
