HKU or HKUST

hae! im new to cc aswel , seems like a very helpful site =D

im currently studying a first yr LLB/BA degree in New Zealand… does anyone know what gpa i need to transfer to hku law nxt year? i dont really care if i have to start my degree all over again since hku is a better institution anyway~

Im currently sitting on a mid-high A-, do i have a chance??

thanks alot!!

so uh whatgives…can you like rank the difficulty of admission for the business majors in order from hardest to least from both hku and hkust? like ibgm (hardest), then finance? or sumthin like that iunno

Does anybody know where I can find the GPA/SAT Scores for accepted students from US?

My school’s Naviance does not has any info for HKU and HKUST, even my college adviser has no clue about it.

Thank you …

@echizen93 I am not a current student at any of those uni, but will go on exchange next year to HKUST, and from my research these 2 unis are both good in the business area, thus both are the same difficulty in terms of getting in the uni.

I would say thet HKUST might be slightly harder, because the reputation of the HKUST Business School is much more well known in HK and also in the world, In my previous post, I did mention HKUST rankings for this year. Overall HKU is better that HKUST, but if u check out the arwu rankings, particularly in the business subject criteria, HKUST is really great.

I hope this helps!

Hi, I am a Canadian student and I aspire to get into a university of Hong Kong. I want to get a BBA in Global Management. I was wondering how hard it would be to get in to either HKU, HKUST or Chinese university of Hong Kong. I currently have a pretty low average (grade 10 grades) or 78% that I hope to increase to at least 83%. I was wondering if this was enough to get into global management or any BBA degree.
Thanks

Edit : I saw that the minimum requirement on their site was 70% ( I got the impression that they would accept you with those grades) and HKUST even called that a competitive average. How true is this ?

Hi!! I m new to this forum as well and I am applying to hkust for the global business program as well!
I saw that some ppl got accepted already?! I don’t really understand how that works. and for those of you applying from Canada or the us. What should I do for the English proficiency part? I mean I am taking English 30-1 ATM. But how am I gonna upload the proof of that? Cuz the marks won’t be out till February.:frowning:
Any helps are greatly appreciated! Thanks!

i got a predicted grade of 29/45 for IB…and want to study journalism or economics in HKU or study BBA in HKUST…would i still have a chance if i do well in the real one? or would they just deselect me by just looking at the predicted grade? but for my E.C.A i have engaged in school representing teams like volleyball and singing and also have work experience in the bank…

^I’m sorry but that predicted grade seems too low for HKU at least, not sure about HKUST. I live in Hong Kong and most people in my school who get even 36+ in their IB predicted get rejected from HKU for economics. HKU is very selective nowadays, I think even HKUST may be a reach for you.

I know about IB, but what about Canadian %

Wow it looks like there are a lot of Canadian students applying to hkust, do you guys mind to share where exact you are from, and I don’t the competitive grades are really competitive, I think they are just trying to get more international students applying. why are you guys so interested in going to hongkong? I m just really curious:-) hopefully we can all get accepted!!

I’m from Eastern Ontario, I want to go to Hong Kong because I have always been interested in Asian culture and Hong Kong seems like a good way in + It’s a cool city. So, What kind of grades do you think are necessary in order to get into HKUST or HKU.

For IB or for Canadian system?

Canadian System :P

^ Sorry, no idea :(

Well I don’t if this will necessarily boost up ur confident, cuz it didn’t do the trick for me either. I m from Alberta and a friend of mine got in with a 90% average. So there:-( tough ey? But don’t worry give it a shot I’d say.

I definitely will, 90% average isn’t that hard if you put your mind to it ! Hopefully we will both get it :D

Sorry I made a mistake. I meant 99%? and that’s according to the Alberta system:-) pretty scary ey? I m definitely not a 99% student, more like a 90% one:-) lol

long time since log in.
really happy for hku.
for all those who have a doubt on how i got selected already,
its because of a silver medal in the international physics olympiad.
international level achievemnts are often accepted immediately.
currently in claifornia inside caltech.
enjoying

Puturrani…ohhh really? :frowning: so even if i do well in real one…it would be hard for HKU?

I’m planning on applying to both HKU and HKUST for 2011 admission, but am wondering if there are any age restrictions as I will be 23 on September 2011, also I finished school in 2006, but I do have good enough SAT, A/L grades and extra curricular activities. Has anyone here applied like this?
Also if there are any students going to either HKU or HKUST, please tell me of what kinda financial aid HKU and UST offer.
