HKU or HKUST

@matchaadict

Just received interview notification from HKUST today. How about you? By the way, can you share some HKU interview experience with me? =)

@Mango. You sent them around January? That’s pretty late… I assume you’ll get a very late response because of that, perhaps April or May?

@zhuangzi. holy motherr am i that late? from what i know, though, they care more about the date i sent the application, not the date they got all the documents. that’s literally what the lady behind the line when i called said. do i think i stand a chance
grade-wise?

do u think

Are they offering scholarship also?

@ sahitrobo

are they (HKUST) offering scholarship also

@mangoaddict

Hi; any PhD applicant for engineering school at HKUST ???

@ammar. thanks man, i hope all these worries and panics are worth it at the end. and good luck with your admission, too; if u already got in, the same luck may go
to ur scholarship !

I’m also still waitin.
Gudluck!

Is anyone applying for HKU MBBS? When are the first offers and offers for interviews…?

@Mango Addict. your grades are fine. Actually pretty decent. In my School there are around 15 ppl in my class who are applying for HKU. They all have the same grades (Around 40+ IB) but the ones (3ppl) who sent in their documents in Mid-early November have all received offers these weeks. The ones who sent them in Early January/Very Late December have not heard a single word from the school. So I assume that they’ll get their offers (if any) around April-May.

Honestly, I’m kind of guessing here. There are loads of factors that could delay your offer. Program wise if there are a surge of applications this year it’ll be slower… Popular programs could take longer.

@ Sahitrobo
You have brilliant grades and extra curriculars.

I’ve got 93% in my 10th Board, but mine is an autonomous school.
Which means that they have their own papers, but it’s affiliated to the CBSE.
School papers are slightly on the tougher side than normal CBSE, and so teachers say you normally add 2-3% to get your CBSE score.
So say a 95% in 10th :slight_smile: I got 98 in Social.
I have a lot of medals and certificates in all kinds of sports, besides, I have plenty of Distinction certificates in Science,Math,English exams conducted by the University of New South Wales, Australia over the past 5 years.

Are you preparing for IIT ?

I read from a local Chinese newspaper that more and more high school seniors apply for overs ease college, especially UK and Canada.

I applied UHK and HKUST too and still waiting for the decison. But sometimes, I asked Mysore, if I’m luck enough to get accepted, will I go? Should I stay here US for my undergraduate or go to HK then comeback for graduate school? I knew a lot of kids from china, taiwan or India went to HK, they are super-hard-working type. For me, born in taiwan but study here is US, will O be able to compete with them? What if I get very low GPA in HK, will that hurt me chance to get a good graduate school here in US? Or, if I stay here, maybe I can enjoy more college life but still has good chance for graduate school?

Maybe I’m just worry too much…

Ps: I sent out all my application before X’mas and college board sent out my SAT & AP scores long before early Dec. But last week, I got an e-mail from HKUST said they don’t have my SAT scores. Called college board and asked them to send again, of course I need to pay. What else I can do?

@dhawal
I am sure you will get a call too as grades are good. Yes preparing for JEE but currently focus is 12th Board.Are you in Australia or India. Have you applied to HKU too.

Anyone know anything about CUHK’s law requirements for IB…?

I’m in India and no, I haven’t applied to HKU.
But, I have also applied to NUS and NTU.
Have you applied there ?

@jbauer24: wow seems like you’re one of the lucky ones! cus i have got a few friends who are getting insane grades but got rejected without an interview :open_mouth: um, but i’ve heard that if you’re lucky, they’ll probably contacted you around april for an interview.

@michaellui11: apparently they ask for 38, and i have 2 friends who got invited to an interview for cuhk law next week. think they’re predicted 40 and 41.

Thank you! I heard they also have high requirements for English. Is 5 for English considered a “good grade”, or will I definitely need a 6?
