HKU or HKUST

@hkusthkust
crazy specs… wow…
but Im quite surprised that you refused to go to LSE or Cornell and went to HKUST… it looks like it was because of financial problems but most financial institutes in US provide alot of scholarships… especially if one choose to go to school like Cornell, doesnt it?

thanks a lot
anyone here know is it possible to transfer to hku/cuhk/ust from an american university? do we have to start from the beginning if we transfer?

kevobest,
I couldn’t qualify for government sponsorships and scholarships due to several reasons, especially for some U.S. Unis. The amount deducted with scholarships were still going to be far more expensive than HKUST. I am on HKUST Swire Scholarship which basically covers full tuition+living expenses+dorms so it was far more attractive. Less financial burden on family of course…
As for LSE, I don’t know why I applied for Accounting and Finance… So I didn’t end up going ;P

@hkusthkust is it easier for hong kong citizens currently studying in high school in America to get in?

@hkusthkust; i am expecting around 85%-90% marks in indian cbse board this year, what are my chances for admission to hkust/hku?
what are the predicted ib points at 89%?
at hkust i have opted for dual degree in technology and management as the first choice, economics and finance as second and third being finance…
i have not had an interview as i applied last week only.
what basis are offers made in april?Me as an indian student will get my class 12th results in mid may.
also how do i relate my cbse marks/% with I.B points,is there a specific method to predict I.B POINTS,if yes please tell?
also when should i expect a word from hkust since i have applied in late march.

is there any indian student who is in or has got a offer from hkust/hku??
if yes then please get in touch…

there is no such comparison between cbse and IB grades. you either do the IB diploma or you don’t. in this case, you probably don’t.

@hugedilemma:thnkx for telling me that…with the points written above what are my chances of getting in according to you…?r u present student?

Hey guys! I’ll be applying for on-campus accommodation in May… any advice? I heard that Starr Hall is best, so I’m definitely gonna put that as my first choice… but we can list more than one choices right? Does anyone know the main difference between Lee Shau Kee and Suen Chi Sun? I’m international, so I prefer to be with international students, and also live in one of the newer dorms with better facilities. thanks (:

Hey guys, any of you who got admitted to BBA (NORMAL not GBUS or anything) at HKUST? If you did, what were your offers? I have applied in early Feb and I am waiting for my offers to come out. Do you know about when I will recieve the reply?

I really wanted to go to HKUST, but all my 3 choices(Accounting, BBA and Humanities and Social Science) are turned out to be unsuccessful. Is there anyway I can do to turn the decision???

not sure that is possible

Hello guys. Can you please please tell me how good the BBA in professional accounting program is at HKUST? i really dont want to make a wrong decision?

@flamingboy93. I just got admitted to BBA at HKUST  . I need to get 10 out of 12 in the Danish grading system. According to a conversion table that is equivalent to 40 in IB.

Hopefully, you’ll be admitted, too. Have you had an interview?

Shaikh123
HKUST’s BBA Professional Accounting is the best in Hong Kong people say… But I personally don’t feel that there is any difference between HKU or CUHK’s accounting majors.
But do keep in mind that HKUST’s Business School is perceived as the best in HK…

hkusthkust:
thank you very much. I’ve paid my deposit to hkust. and have applied for visa as well. however, I havent received any confirmation as to whether my visa applications has been received or not.
One more thing, will this degree enable me to complete my masters from the USA?

No problem shaikh123, you can always email your admission officer to check up on your application and visa status.
I also don’t see a problem for a HKUST graduates to obtain masters degree in US schools as HKUST is gaining more reputation worldwide. As long as you have solid academic background and necessary work experience, you have a fair shot at US schools for masters. Perhaps having HKUST as your undergrad college will help you to stand out from the rest of the applicants…

hkusthkust:
THank you. i look forward to attend hkust this fall.

Hi Everyone, i recently got my acceptance letter for the HKU BBA/ BBA (acc. and finance) and I’ll be heading to HKU in september. Just as a note to some people who think that this program is only for accountants or smth, that’s not true. The BBA and BBA (acc. and finance) are two distinct programs that happen to have the same JUPAS code at HKU, so once you get admitted at the university, THEN you declare which one of the two you wish to do.

Was hoping to find out what’s the best hall for international students, I’ve heard it’s starr hall but i wanna be open to more suggestions.

good luck to the rest of you

Flaminrash: Congrats! In your acceptance letter, did it say “Congratulations on your admission to the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance programme”? I got that in my email, thus the reason why I am confused, as I thought they have chosen me to be in the BBA (acc. and finance) instead of BBA. Do you know when we declare which one of the two we wish to do?

I’m also still waiting for my letter to come in the mail …
