I’m going!!!

I’ve been seeing some info about the MBBS programme at HKU. I applied and was wandering, if i get rejected from the MBBS will i immediately be told if I hav been accepted into the BSc Programme? or do i have to wait longer to hear the results of my second choice (BSc.)

Ha ha ha, got e-mail this morning, in, in, in, engineering, HKU! with FA !
Now, I have to decide between HKU or UIUC.
Happy day but now, headache, hard to make decision.

Does HKU have scholarships besides the entrance scholarships that are given together with admission offers. And does anyone know which has a lower acceptamnce rate HKU or HKUST for engineering?

How am I supposed to get my documents certified? Do I also need a certified copy of my SAT scores or I’ll just have to ask collegeboard to send it to them;is there any where I could check if they’ve received my scores from collegeboard?

@EngStu01

In my acceptance e-mail, the admission officer stated, "We also award hundreds of HKU scholarships that students can apply for after the commencement of study. Please check http://www.hku.hk/pubunit/cal99/147f.htm"

Thanks, but I do believe yours is cooler. You’re at the Sepang Circuit cheering for McLaren, right?
I actually emailed them yesterday, and they said everything was fine regarding the documents. Hopefully they will let me know when they have received the 10k

And we’re definitely going to have fun at CUHK :)

Ok Facebook wins lmao! I see where this is heading :p

May i know how many international students do they take in for Business course?

Hi guys ^^
Im also new here and im an international student. I recently got accepted to HKU Bachelor of Social Sciences and want to ask the current students if they have any insights about the faculty as well as the courses and the students ;D (i tried googling but nothing showed up D: )

So this year I applied mostly to the US and have HKU as the only school in Asia. At the time I submitted the app I didn’t know that the majors in HKU or Hong Kong’s universities in general don’t work the US way and that Social Sciences seems to be the easiest to get into (read this from another thread on CC) I even put Becon/Finance as my second choice. Silly I know, lol :P

If I go to the US I maybe major in smthing like sociology or psy since the schools that im accepted to are pretty good at those fields, but anyone knows anything about those in HKU?
Every insight is appreciated ^^ :D

@cunlanusk. Lol from what I know, and I am sure I am not pro at this, but hku is famous for its uh…medicine? Lol where do you wanna work tho? Heard ucla has good psy programs?

i just received the offer for BBA (Law). anybody has advice for me?

I got into HKY and CUHK for Engineering and Electronic Engineering, but am still waitlisted at HKUST. Which is harder to get into? HKU or HKUST?
And do you guys know which gives out more scholarships/ financial assistance to International Students.

@ uhneetah
Thanks for the info, looks great. I must look into it and see if there are nay thats relevant for me. Btw are you going to HKU?

hi guys , found an email dating 5 days ago telling me i was accepted into HKU for Bsc Science programme =). i need help regarding the scholarship given .

‘Along with your admission offer, you have been selected from over 10,000 applicants for an Entrance Scholarship of HK$150,000. This is payable in equal portions, one per academic year, subject to satisfactory academic progress. The award letter will be issued to you after receiving your acceptance of the admission offer by email.’

this is the total amount right? sounds like its not renewable to me…i want to believe its 150k p.a though …

@EngStu01
First of all congrats on your admission to HKU and CUHK. I’m not sure about which of HKU and UST it is hardest to get into, but since you’ve applied for EE, I would guess UST is hardest due to the fact that it has one of the best, if not the best, engineering departments in Asia.
From what I’ve heard, UST is very generous when it comes to scholarships, especially if you’ve followed the IB.

@choongy
Congrats. To me it does sound renewable and that you’l receive a certain amount every year. However, the one thing I’m not sure about is, if it is 150k p.a. or if it’s 50k p.a. I think it’s 50k but I’m not sure.
If I were you, I would just ask them.

@EngStu01
Yes, I am going to HKU this fall, I’m doing BBA. :)

@choongy
It sounds like the scholarship is renewable, as it says “one per academic year.” However, I agree with Christoffer, you should just e-mail HKU about your inquiry, I have e-mailed my admission officer before and twice she replied to me back within several hours. Congrats by the way!

@uhneetah

You are doing BBA too? which course is that? I am just wondering if HKU’s business courses are good:)

@luohui1021

Yeah I’m doing BBA, I’m doing the general one I think. I see that you got accepted into BBA (Law), congrats! I think I read from some places that law is one of HKU’s strength. Are you thinking about going to law school later on?

@choongy,I think it’s 50k p.a. as it says “This is payable in equal portions, one per academic year, subject to satisfactory academic progress.” I think it means that you’ll get the 50k first,then another 50k if your result is good on the 2nd year(assuming if your degree takes three years to complete).

By the way,anyone knows if it will reduce my chance of getting into the BBA/BBA(acc) program if it is my second choice,and that I got rejected from my first choice BBA(IBGM)?
