…well thats definitely interesting to hear…it would have been convenient if they had stated that explicitly on their website for international students…because honestly thats a waste of money a lot of people dont have to just throw around…if i had known this i would have just put BSc as my first choice right off the bat
@ the grand
by the way someone mentioned something about if they receive your information for MBBS sometimes it is not transferred to the other people making decisions about say BSc programmes and this means more than likely u will not be regarded for your second choice of BSc either? do you know if this is true?

i think HKUST does a much better job in applications. When you apply, your information is given to all three choices at the same time, as opposed to HKU where they give to the first choice and pass your application on if you’re unsuccessful to your next choice…

hey guys, anyone who got into BBA, mind sharing your specs? i had an interview with NUS BBA professors today, and they said i was offered an interview because i didnt meet the cutoff for the program (which they specifically said was 42 in IB LOLFML) but just had a better portfolio. so im panicking hard. is HKU usually crazy like this too?

@MangoAddict

That’s interesting, as I also applied to NUS for BBA. I haven’t been contacted or anything though, so I don’t know if this is good news or bad news XD Are you an international or local applicant for NUS? I got into HKU BBA; I follow the American curriculum instead of the IB, and it’s not like I’ve gotten 5’s on all of my exams. XD

has anyone at all received news from HKU MBBS yet? 22nd of April now…

nothing

last day of this week to get something.

ok…hopefully something will come up next week…by the way jbauer do u speak cantonese? and if u dont mind me asking are u from the US/Canada?

ok…hopefully something will come up next week…by the way
@jbauer
do u speak cantonese? and if u dont mind me asking are u from the US/Canada?

I speak Cantonese.

From Canada.

Cool, im pretty sure u will get into MBBS …as for me i might be making my way to U of T instead…and you seem to know a lot about Hong Kong…do u know if it is convenient to study medicine elsewhere and then come to Hong Kong for internship?

@uhe… lucky you!! ive got 2340 in SAT too but i applied to NUS through IB application, so i dont think the score helped a lot… uugh. i wish i could get into HKU as well … where are you from though? i assume being nonasian is the biggest determinant in terms of international admission in asia… which further excludes my chance…
fmlfmlfmlfml

Going back to hong kong to practise is no easy feat. Some people said you have to take this ridiculously hard test, if you studied abroad.

@ mango addict
UR SAT score is wicked!!! my god if u dont get in with a score like that there is no justice in this world!
@jbauer
that pretty much sucks…going to china has been a lifelong dream for me…been to america several times and its really not my cup of tea anyways i’m about to call HKU and ask whats going on ill put a word out if i get any significant information

@MangoAddict

Whoa, my SAT score is nowhere as high as yours! I am Asian haha, I’m from Taiwan. But yes I agree that they would want more nonasian international students. Where else have you applied to? Do you have deadlines to pay the deposit for other schools coming up? I know for most of the US schools the deposit deadline is May 1st, which is in pretty much two weeks

i applied to hkust in late march,can anybody tell me when should i expect a decision???
also am i at a disadvantage as i applied late in march…???
also can anybody reply to to my previous post that was:
the hkust admission officer has asked me to submit my grade 11 to present transcripts.
me being an indian student,was preparing for iit-jee,so my grade 11 results are really bad and do not reflect the true potential.at the same time i am expecting a much better class 12th result.do these class 11th results effect the outcome of my application?? please help

@ sababb
I applied to HKUST around the same time that you did because I was waiting for HKU to answer but they didnt. As for your transcripts I think you should just muster up the strength and send it because they are going to need it if you get in sooner or later. I know how it feels because I also did not do so well in 12th grade but I actually got into a good Canadian university which I really did not expect to happen.
You sound like a hardworking student, usually when a student who normally does well slips up a little they will look at your entire performance at school and in some cases will excuse it. That happened for me, so i suggest you send on your transcipt and just hope and pray you get in
And actually you are lucky someone has corresponded with you which means they must have some interest in you :D
All the best and good luck

hey r u indian?

@sababb
How much are you getting in JEE ?
BTW, I got Electronics at HKUST.
Best of luck to you.
