HKU or HKUST

Does anybody know when HKU is replying to international students for BENG? They first said in the last week of April (and this has passed) :(

does anyone know how many hours we get to work per week in HK as a student?

@MThaika
I got an interview call March 23 and was offered admission 13 April for Engineering. Did you have an interview yet?

does anyone know when late application results usually come out? thanks!

@EngStu01 : I had two interviews already (one in 20 Jan and the other in 20-ish of March)
They still haven’t replied :frowning: Does this mean I am not selected or do they normally reply late to International Applicants?
Btw, are you non-jupas? and what engineering have you chosen? I applied for Biomedical Engineering. Where are you from?

oh hku pleaseeee :(

@ ALL Indian CBSE students: Now that JEE and AIEEE is over, how many of you are actually keen to join HKUST and HKU.
I have blocked my seat for COMP engg but really not sure. HKU incidentally this year are getting generous with scholarships at least in India. From one of the school in Delhi at least 8-9 students have been picked up with scholarships of 180K over three years .
One major tip for candidates applying to HKU. Never ask them or mail them for early decision, only decision they will take is reject the application however competent you may be. Really sad for university of repute !!!
The poor financial worth of Engineers in HK is not encouraging me take the call at even HKUST… Any comments please. Will be accepted only as a last resort .

Damn, really? I should have guessed, cos I kept pressing for a decision by beating around the bush from HKUST, and then shortly I was waitlisted on March 31. I just recently asked them yet again, saying that I was admitted to other Universities, but that I wanted UST more - haven’t heard from them after that. What are your thoughts on that? The only reason was that, I’m really annoyed that HKUST is taking sooooo long, when other have got in.

@MThaika
I think they reply late, cos I remember the stress filled weeks I had, especially that neither UST or HKU replied. If you had two interviews that might be a good sign, cos interviews might not be for entrance only, but also to determine scholarships. Thats what I feel, though I might be totally wrong. I got 180K from HKU, but really waiting for UST.
Im NON Jupas. I applied for engineering, cos Im not sure if HKU lets you choose. Are you referring to HKU or UST btw? cos Im pretty sure that you cant choose the particular engineering from HKU.
Anyone can tell me why UST is taking sooooo long, btw I havent been contacted for an interview at UST either.

@EngStu01 : hopefully its a good sign! when u say “I remember the stress filled weeks I had, especially that neither UST or HKU replied.” do u mean for the application for 2011/2012 or are u currently studying at HKU atm? :S anyways, my first interview was general with the engineerig dept at HKU but my second one was for biomedical engineering (more specific)…so doesnt this mean we can choose what engineering we want to take? anyways, how many interviews did u have in total?

Should I email HKU asking when they would reply or should i wait?

@MangoAddict - what course have u applied for and are u non jupas?

Guys…
Ive applied for BBA at UST in late Feb, but still no replies yet. I’ve e-mailed them but they said the offer comes around may-june. I waited 2 months already and its taking so long… making me feel worried. you guys think ill get reply by may?

I got an offer for Bsc from HKU with 180K schol
I initial wanted to attend the medical school…
Will graduating from HKU give me higher chance of getting me into a
competitive medical school in the future?

sahitrobo- That is completely not true. I don’t know where you got that information, but I nagged HKU a couple of times and I got accepted to IBGM. And to my information, IBGM is one of the hardest programs to get into.

@ flamingboy93: i also applied for BBA and i expect UST to reply in early May.

@GOODBOI for IBGM they take 30 people. about 15 HK Local students, about 5 non-local HK students (HK people going to school overseas) and about 6 international students a year.

SAT? I would guess around 2100 because I got that ! :D

@MangoAddict my friend got into Global Business without an interview (I KNOW I ALMOST PUNCHED HER) so don’t worry theres still hope ;P

@flamingboy93
Just BBA right? and you mean UK A Levels - AAB

any body with any update on engineering HKU 2011 please post it here!!
The waiting is killing me :(

@Mthaika,
I applied for this year and got my offer April 15, ie last month. Had only one interview and I thought that that didnt go too well, but voila, got in though with a meagre scholarship 180000 for 3 years. Seems like everyone is getting those.

i applied to the BBA program (and 2nd and 3rd choices being engineering and science, respectively), and i am an international applicant. and i finished the application around late december to early january so i dont get why i didn hear anything so far. super nervous :-(

@minkey: oh thank you. i would have loved to punch her too :)
