@SMSAnonJ hey! thanks so much. I will try that. :D

Hey does anyone know how the entrance scholarships work… as in are the renewable for each year?

@howdoiknow

Hi, I’m a Year 1 BBA student at HKUST and I may be able to give you good idea as to where you stand. Aside from your GPA, you’ve basically surpassed all the minimum requirements by a mile and that if it wasn’t for your GPA I would have recommended you to apply for Global Business as you have a shot. I would imagine that although your GPA is on the lower side of things, your SAT and AP scores will take precedence because they are external exams (which means that the scores aren’t biased by the school).

Looking at your activities, I feel that you are fine. You don’t need to be president or chairperson of every single club in high school to be considered doing well in ECAs. As long as you have some titles and a good variation of ECAs then you are more than safe. I particularly like how you had an internship at a business company as it looks good on your CV. Feel free to inbox me if you have any further questions :)

Hows the workload ?

@linsanity. In general the workload’s quite big for CUHK, HKUST, and HKU. You can expect working on average to like 2AM everyday and the amount of material that one lecture covers can be quite a lot. You can expect to do quite a lot of revision, projects, presentations, essays, and so forth. However, it does vary quite a lot depending on which faculty you’re in, what kind of courses you’re taking and the level of the course.

@linsanity

Like zhuangzi (yo man, back on the forums again? lol) said, it does depend on which major you are taking, which uni you are in, which professor you have etc. Personally from my experience at HKUST, you are literally going to be spending quite a bit of time studying if you want that A instead of B. The workload is manageable, but you must be willing to sacrifice some of your time that would have gone to socializing or sleeping if you want to do well. Hope that gives you a better picture of what the workload at HKUST is like.

Wow! Congratulations! You applied even later than I but received a response so soon! You must have extraordinary merits!

Well, I also applied to engineering, however HKUST just returned my email today saying that “due to the unexpectedly large volume of applications we receive this year, we’ll expect to give the results around June…”

Then they must be saying something not that true… sigh :(

Anyway I shall just wait… Congratulations again!

@smsanonj thanks man…i just hope you get an offer from them very soon…my best wishes are with you…:)

@hulkhogan. just checking things out haha. And with finals coming around, things get quite hectic here…

got a confirmation from HKUST for MSc IT. Really Excited!!!
The problem is that I didnt get on campus housing and off campus housing is crazy expensive. Is there any1 who can help??? BUDGET around HKD4000.

@DigitWorld Hi! Congrats on your offer! As for housing, it can be a bit troublesome given that some of the halls that were originally planned to come into service aren’t going to be completed by the time school starts again in September. Rent is one of the biggest things that you’ll need to pay for in HK. You could try surrounding areas such as Sai Kung, Tai Po Tsai, and Hang Hau.

Hey guys… new to the forum here. I got accepted into the IBGM program at HKU. From what I can tell from the online forums… this is a big thing, considering im International and they take liek 8 ppl from abroad. I want to know if anyone else has got a conditional reply for this course… especially international students. Also, if theres been a previous post or one in another forum from someone who has been accepted, could you please direct me to it? Thanks in advance :)

how is the workload for HKU engineering?

Has anyone who applied for HKU BDS received offers yet?

Are people (those who have been accepted already) getting scholarships from HKU? I’ve received an offer and already paid my deposit, but the lady told that because I sent in my scholarship application late, the committee will reply back with a decision by July. I thought scholarships were listed as part of the admission offer.

Hello. I got an offer from HKU for faculty of arts and 200 000 HKD scholarship for 4 years(50 000 HKD each year) Is it worth going to HKU for arts or just average us university will give me better employment in USA? I just really need to know if HKU is well regarded in Japan and USA?

Is getting into HKUST and HKU hard? Which is harder to get into?

I went to both of their campuses last december, and I must say, HKU gave me the chills.
Just seeing HKU made me wanna attend my UG in BBA there. My cousin is a graduate of HKU, valedictorian of 1996.

PS: I have a Filipino High School Diploma with SAT and other exam stuff.

@salad93
Do you received an offer of HKU BDS??
How is your exam result?

Hello. Does anyone know about status of HKU in Japan and USA?

@annababy
Nope not yet, because I applied for BDS as a late applicant in March. I did the IB wif 43 points. You applied for BDS also right? How is your application going?
