Do you mean to tell me that I am the only candidate to get an interview?
@Sunshine1706
How much is your essay score? That may be important because a score of above 8 means that you do not have to submit any English proficiency proof. As regards to the score, I honestly donāt know what scores candidates have, and in many Asian Universities they are not as important as your grade 12 final exam.
But, I hope someone who has gotten in can give you a better idea.

ummm ive applied to hkust and hku in early action.
SAT 1 score of 1930 and SAT 2 score of 2150
head boy of school and prizes in every kind of cultural activity
95.2% in ICSE 10th and expecting around the same in 12th
3rd rank in the first trimester of 12th
have not heard from hkust or hku
what are the chances of me getting in?
has nyone heard from andy uni in hk??

@ugatsghk - Maybe you are the only person to be called for an interview up until now. Like lily9696 said she does not know anyway who might have been called for an interview, and you are the only person I know who has been called for an interview. Maybe they found your application too good and decided to call you for an interview? Anyways, not being called for an interview does not mean that you are not selected - USTās site says this. So lets be optimistic of getting through in the early round!

@debater123 - I think you have a fair chance of getting into UST. UST does not give much importance to SAT scores for Indian students, so that might just work in your favor, given your SAT scores are average. If you are able to get around 95% you may easily get in. However a lot of students have given their expected scores in 93-95 range, so getting in might be tougher than this year.

@ugatsghk: I got only a 7 for the essay,but i guess it doesnāt matter 'cause I got 7.5 IELTS (writing 7.0).
I think I should clarify my situation to get better help from you. I and other 7 students are on the short list for this scholarship to HKU offered exclusively for Vietnamese students. Among us,it seems only I got SAT score,and itās above the minimum. So I think it would give me an advantage.
But for a prestigious one like HKU,whose applicants mostly score over 2000 in SAT, will my 1890 become unacceptable and weaken my application?
Please give me some advice.Thanks a lot!

@sunshine1706
I want to tell you that in my opinion, you should ask someone who is your senior.
I am not applying to HKU; I donāt know much about Vietnamese applicants.

If you are not desperate for something to add for yourself and are reasonably confident about your chances, I do not suggest you go with the score. But, I advise you to talk to someone to confirm this.

@debater123
I think you stand a reasonably good chance. Do you want to write SAT again?

i wrote the SAT again and thatās when i got the score of 1930
previously it was 1900
but to make the case clear
i gota a 112 in toefl with 30/30 in writing

Well, TOEFL isnāt really an examination to show mastery of English, it is just to show that you can understand and speak English. But, 112 is a good score.

Anyone applyinp to the HKU can give me some advice? I need to submit the application soon:(

so anyone here who has got the email of acceptance from either hku or hkust?

@sunshine1706 - If you donāt have the time to write the SATs again then I suggest you to not include your SAT scores in the application. HKU is competitive and I feel itād be better if you do not mention your SAT scores.

Oh, itās so hard for me to decide. I started a thread and someone told me that:
"Your score is excellent, assuming the countries do not have English as a major language. They would NOT ask for scores over 1800 if they would not consider 1810 etc.

Be proud of your score, I think people are comparing apples to oranges. There are colleges in the US that would give scholarships for scores above 1800, maybe not full, but something ($15,000 US per year for example)"

@AkshathK: I see your point, and thatās exactly what Iām afraid of and makes me hesitant. So you still say that even after considering the fact that I only have to compete with the other 7 Vietnamese students who have no SAT scores?

Hi,
