@AkshayPai can u tell me ur stats bro?
Hey people, Just wanted to know that if we are offered a one off scholarship from the university then what can be done after the first year to manage our funds?
Hey, @utkarsh3
There is only one way - to have good grades. If you have a gpa of 3.85 and more, you will be offered a maximum scholarship of 80.000 HKD. The rest of the money, around 60.000 HKD, you have to find on your own by seeking for investors or by working during the break. This information is proven true by me personally and by another guy, who is currently enrolled in HKUST. Just hoping there will be more opportunities, scholarships offered next year…
@boldgirl I’m from India. By the way, is there any condition once you register for a scholarship like they have in Singapore, where you are entitled to work there for 3-4 years as a part of the agreement?
No, there isn’t. But you are allowed to stay after the graduation for one year to find a job.
Does HKU announce the results starting from early March or late March?
Does anyone, who applied main round to HKU, was invited for an interview?
@boldgirl
No. I haven’t got any mail from HKU.
Also I havent got my UST results.
@tus42rg and @utkarsh3 … Really sorry for the delayed reply.
CBSE curriculum
Class 10 : 10 CGPA
Class 11 : Overall 95.9 % ( at the end of academic year )
Class 12 : Predicted score of 98.6 % ( Eng : 97 , Math : 100 , Physics : 98 , Chemistry : 99 , CS : 99 )
SAT Subject test : 2400 ( Dont really think it matters because i got my conditional offer even before i could provide my score to them )
And no much achievements to be proud of so EC definitely dint have anything to do with my offer lel
Hello people I applied to HKUST and got an offer a few days back and I have some questions:
- My first choice was BEng and second Bsc. I received an offer for Bsc but the BEng part in the portal is still blank. So will I get a result from the engineering department as well or is this it?
- Me and friend both got in for BSc and both of us didnt get any news regarding a scholarship. Does the scholarship news come later or am I supposed to believe I wont get any? Also did you guys get an additional letter for scholarship or what?
Hi all! I applied to hku for MSc engineering Sept 2016 intake and I’m yet to get an offer of admission. My application status has been ‘application being considered by the department’ since I applied in November last year. Does anyone know when I will likely get an offer and if I stand a chance? I am an international applicant from Nigeria.
Hi @collegeAd20
I got offers from HKUST for BEng and BSc on December 31. With these offers, I also received scholarship packages: for BSc a full-tuition scholarship renewable up to 2 years and for BEng a one-off full-tuition scholarship. If you didn’t get a scholarship package along with your acceptance letter, I believe that means you will not get one.
Hi @tus42rg
Thanks for your reply! Let’s hope for the best!
@boldgirl you got offers for both the departments together? Also what international exams did you give?
BTW @boldgirl a friend of mine got the HKU interview for engineering. He applied in the regular round
@collegeAd20 Yes, for both departments. Since I took my country’s national examination, I gave them only my TOEFL results.
They probably gave me admission for another academic credentials+my essay and recommendation letters were pretty good.
@collegeAd20 Wow, that’s good! Where he is from?
@boldgirl Pakistan
It seems like most people in this thread are applying to for undergrad. Anyone applying to these schools for postgraduate specifically MSc?
I applied to both HKUST and CUHK as an international student from U.S.A for an MSc in Electronic Engineering. My GPA for undergrad is 3.46/4.0 and I have two years working experience
How difficult is it to get into the masters program as an international student? I have heard it is a bit more lenient. I have also heard engineering is not as competitive for HK colleges, any truth in that?
I am in dilemma now. I got an offer from HKUST for business school with one-off admission scholarship. I accepted the offer and has paid the required registration deposit as well as proceeding with the student visa application. However, I received the offer from HKU this morning with admission scholarship + renewal for business school. It’s substantial financial saving. Can I accept the HKU offer and just write to inform the HKUST for withdrawing the acceptance ? I believe many people apply for multiple universities and may end up in this dilemma as the offers come at different timing. Hopefully somebody can share the experience.
