HKU or HKUST

@Chhptan did you have an interview?

Did anyone receive an offer from HKU(main round) without an interview(Engineering or Science)

No.

Seems nobody is talking about MSc admissions to HKU and d rest

Has HKU started giving out decisions? My peers who applied for engineering only got an interview call.

@ZainSD , yes , I assume HKU has started giving out decisions. Though I havent been offered yet , I wrote a mail few days back. They’ve stated that they have already started giving out decisions. $-)

Maybe to local applicants. Haven’t heard about anyone from my city who was admitted in local round.

Anyone got in to BEng or BSc HKU without an interview(MAIN ROUND)?

Hello peeps. I’m from India and I received a conditional offer from HKUST (Engineering) on 2nd of Feb. It included a scholarship package of one off 50% scholarship on securing 90% and full waiver on securing 95% in my Grade 12 exam. For admission, I require 85% overall with 85 in mathematics as well. What happened is, this time the All India mathematics paper was quite screwed up : lengthy and tougher than usual. There’s a lot of agitation going on, with students demanding grace marks and lenient checking of the answer scripts because of this blunder by the education board. Now I’m confident of securing the required 85% overall, but I fear missing out on 85 in mathematics… (I think I’ll end up with 80 whereas I expect 90+ in all other subjects). Will HKUST rescind the offer if I miss out by such a margin? How strict are they about this?

I received an offer from the Chinese Univ of HK for the bachelors in engneering program. I have earlier been rejected by HKUST. Right now I am in a state of complete dilemma as they have not offered me any scholarship or aid as I was really in need of it. Without any aid i wont be able to attend the univ. Any inputs on what should be done now ? How should i move forward and manage my finances? What are the options available?
Also, Is CUHK worth attendind for engineering program?
P.S. I am from India

@utkarsh3 CUHK is a brilliant university. Its 6th in Asia and 51st in the world. Their engineering department is v.good. Check out the rankings. If you have aid issues though you should try Unis in India cause Ive heard the IITs are brilliant too. The experience would be worthwhile of CUHK but if aid is a real major problem then you should look for alternatives. Also send an email to CUHK about the aid issue. Maybe they’ll reply. Anything can happen. Goodluck
(PS not an Indian, just heard from other people about IIT)

Anyone here from City University of Hong Kong ? Needed some info… how is the university?

Are there still people waiting for HKU offers??

Anybody applied for 2017/18 ?

Anyone applied for HKUST/HKU for 2017-18?

Yep, applied for 2017/18 but although my stats are in line, my counselor screwed up my app by clicking the “decline” link for the predicted scores instead of the right one. She did email the uni to explain the situation and even wrote me a letter of rec to emphasize to them that I’m a good kid, but I still feel that this thing would have a negative impact on my application, especially since they’ve asked me for more documents while nobody else at my school who applied got those e-mails.
Any ideas what might happen?

Does anyone know if HKU accepts transfers from a U.S. community college? and do you still have to do SAT/ACT if you’re transferring from a community college?

Don’t worry! They mailed me once requesting the required documents. They mail you when then require any documents. If you have applied in early round and found successful, they will reply you in late December or mid January.

Well, I have received Interview invitation from HKUST today.

I was a student at HKU’s IBGM program, if anyone has any questions.
