@losgatosca Thanksman! I’ve applied for Engineering, RMBI and Quantitative finance at HKU. I’ve applied for similar choices in CUHK and HKUST. I have received conditional offers from CUHK and Interview invitations from HKUST. However, I still haven’t heard anything from HKU. I have applied early.
Great that you got offers so early from two of the best! When did you submit application? Mine is under process for the same universities for almost the same options. If you do not mind, will you please share your academic scores?
You should go to their websites to check this out…Mostly they need your college GPA instead of SATs.
Thanks Haze! But I am keen to know from Kowshikbalaji as he got Conditional Offer and Interview call so early. What was his academics/SAT etc that got him the success.
@Rider99 I applied for CUHK on November 22nd and got conditional offer for engineering on November 30. My condition is to score 85℅ in mathematics, physics and chemistry. I applied only with my GPA cause I wasn’t aware that Hongkong universities accept SAT crediantals. They didn’t call me for any interview. I didn’t receive any offer for scholarship; however, they mailed me that scholarship office wasn’t opened yet. They would offer scholarships in mid December. So, they gave me 2 more weeks extension for the reply deadline (Normally 14 days).
I don’t exactly remember when I applied for HKUST. Probably, for the early round. I got interview invitation on December 1st. I had my interview yesterday for Risk management and business intelligence program. It was second choice. I don’t think HKUST has started giving out offers. I still didn’t hear anything from HKU.
@kowshikbalaji Thank you so much for the details! I applied for all the three universities on 15th Dec with Engineering as my first choice. For CUHK and HKUST, I submitted online reference only a couple of days ago. Since I am from State Board in India, I did not want to take any risk. Hence I have submitted scores of SAT and SAT Subject Tests. I have taken IELTS and awaiting the result. A Couple of days ago, I got Skype invitation from HKU for Engineering. I am a bit nervous about it. Application status is still under consideration for CUHK and did not hear from HKUST yet. Anyone from India, who got Interview call from HKU?
@Rider99 congrats for getting invitation from HKU. Don’t worry about the interview. It is very easy. Hence, don’t mess it up. They will start the interview with an open-ended question “Tell us about yourself.” Mostly they’ll ask you questions like "Why HKUST? Why Hong Kong? Will you stay in hongkong after the graduation? What is your knowledge about programming languages? And may be they’ll ask you few questions related to calculus. Sorry, I really don’t know anyone who received interview invitation from HKU.
Okay hello everyone I just did an interview with CUHK and I might have messed up in one of the questions. They asked like what other schools I’ve applied to and in what programmes I’ve applied and they asked if it was this one thing but honestly I didn’t remember so I said no, it’s similar to what I’ve applied to CUHK. But then after the interview I went back and checked and turns out it was the thing that they said! Does CUHK, HKU, and HKUST share information on this? I feel kinda nervous about it now??
Actually, that question really plays a key role during the interview.

Is this normal? HKUST says that they will send out offers by Dec 28. Is it possible to get in without being interviewed?

I got my interview invitation from HKU yesterday… what about you guys?
I did the interview just last Wednesday… They asked me why I chose BSc Surveying and then asked if I had applied to other schools and what my priority is. They asked me if I have any questions and I forgot to ask them when they would announce the results. Does anyone know anything about HKU results???
I just got an offer today for sciences in HKUST. I did not do an interview.
