I’m so excited to have found an entire future HKUST students community here!
I’m doing the IB Diploma currently, and I already have a conditional offer + scholarship for the BSc. Chemistry in HKUST But i’m still deciding whether to accept the offer or not, cos i’m still waiting on HKU’s reply, idk why they are taking so long 
I also have an offer from Peking University.
It would be cool to know any of you who are going to HKUST in the fall!:D</p>

<p>jeung22: Oh my best friend Jae Yong Lee is from Seoul and one of my other friends is currently living there… I think your SAT is definitely competitive dont worry bout that though, let them decide if you are competitive or not, you just give it your best shot, i.e., write a good essay and sound confident in your interview (if asked to give one that is) I wasn’t asked to sit for an interview so that means its not compulsory that they will interview all the applicants…</p>

<p>Btw. Which course did you apply for? And when did you get the email talking about the ‘vetted’ thing? Gosh I can hardly wait to see an admission offer. I applied for Econs and Finance. And it’s been about a month since I got that vetted thingie. I believe they are considering the scholarship applications right now since they finished the interview on 6th March.</p>

<p>About “Being vetted” Stuff: </p>
<p>isn’t it something like "… considered your application favorably and that they have decided to make you an admission offer. Your application form is now being vetted and when this is done, we will email and post you the offer letter. " i received the email in Feb 5,and got the offer letter in March 5. so just wait

<p>@oldnite1 – I applied to HKU a month ago as well (28. Jan)… According to their site, there will be some waiting time: </p>

You will receive notification from the University starting from April to early September. However, if you are placed on a waiting list, you may not hear the result of your application until later. If you are not likely to be offered a place, the University will try to let you know as soon as possible, in order to give you maximum time to make other plans.”</p>

I didn’t indicate anything about Early Admission though since my IB results came out in Jan. And btw, I have friends who applied after me, and have got higher points than me, they are also waiting for an offer, I think it’s 'cos of the rolling admissions thingie. Chillax, you should be fine~ (:</p>

<p>alexavier: yea i applied and went for the interview on feb 14th in jakarta… by the way, when they say they have made you an admission offer and is in the process of vetting, does it mean i am confirm getting an offer?? coz i am pretty sure i dont have criminal record or anything and all the info i have given has been verified… so yea thats been playing on my mind the past few days… hopefully u would be able to let me know since you been thru the process before… thank you</p>

You see the thing is that the admission offer and the scholarship offer thing comes together. So they inform you about the admission offer and then they consider the scholarship thing if you applied for it. After which you are posted and emailed the offer letter with the scholarship. The last scholarship interview was on 6th March, so this week they would be kinda winding up the thingie and informing you if you got a scholarships or not.
So yeah. Chillax~ You should be fine. In already, just processing your scholarship application. (:
Oh btw. I’m saying “this week” because I got an email from the faculty yesterday confirming my first name and last name. Interestingly, my passport last name and the last name in my application weren’t the same since I put the other half of my last name in the area for first name in my application. [I wonder why Indians have long names, as if their names aren’t unique enough… xP] So she asked me to confirm which one I wanted to use. The first or last name don’t make sense to me. They’re just names. Meh. Haha. I guess that means some “official” processing is going on now? <em>shrugs</em>
