I wonder if the major you applied for will influence the interview process. Anyone here majoring in Business Administration?

kyu: yeahh hahha it’s cool

elite: i did BBA!

EVERYONE - if you get accepted to business administration in CUHK AND HKUST, where would you go?

EliteGeek: I’m a business major as well…

exe163: Most of us are supposedly asian students. collegereally? and I are both Korean students.

Well I have a Chinese background and only spent around 7 years in US. Plus relatives living in HK and a father that wants me to study in Asia, HK would be a very logical place for me to stay. Not to mention the ample opportunity in Asia (especially in port city such as HK).

I am really surprised people around the world discuss on this board, I thought anxious American students, such as myself, come here to release pressure while waiting on decisions.

@collegereally? When did you apply? It must have been pretty early since you’ve already got your decision. BTW, congrats! I personally think CUHK and HKUST are equally good and it all comes down to the location, facilities, etc.

i applied late november and heard back on the first week of january… i applied to UST on the same date but still havent heard back from them…

does anyone know if HKUST also offers like one additional year at the end of BBA to get a BEngineering like CUHK?

@collegereally-yes it does have a dual-degree program ie engineering and bba but you have to apply for it…
It is a 4 yrs course and i hear its pretty intensive right from the first year onwards…

Sam Lee: That makes sense! What do you think about Rose-Hulman then? I was thinking about keeping it as my safety University, considering the worst case scenario that I might not get the marks required by HKUST due to any random thing!

well like CU has this thing that after 3 or 4 years of BBA, you can just do one more year to get a BEng… so i was wondering there was anything like this in UST APART from the dual degree program

Exec: Hey, I’m applying from the US, though I’m not originally from the US…

@Sarthak: You ranked the unis yourself…thats not subjective for you? And yeah did you visit HKUST yet? Whats the weather like in there?

LordXXX: I’m not Sarthak but I had the opportunity to visit all three schools when I visited HK at the beginning of March. I thought that HKUST had a beautiful campus, but it was so remote from the city. It’s a 20-minute-bus ride from the nearest MTR(in the mountains and near the seashore) but luckily there are many bus lines that go to the school. The weather was disastrous all round HK when I visited so I can’t say much about the weather though…

Speaking of campus, CUHK also had a beautiful and enormous campus, but is located in the New Territories(Pretty far out from Kowloon or Central). There is a MTR station right next to the school, but the school is so big that you have to take the school bus to get around…

HKU is better than CUHK and HKUST location-wise, but still the transportation isn’t that good. You can’t get there by MTR and it takes about 10-15 minutes by bus from Admiralty to get there.

Does anyone know how long the HKUST Global Business and HKU’s IBGM programme is??
I thought that the Business programme at CUHK lasted 3 years… But they say that I have to complete 123 units in 4 years because I did only 6 years of secondary school (which is normal in Korea…). Would it be the same 4 years for HKUST and HKU??

@kyu: it tells you on the acceptance letter. you have to meet conditions to get different amount of units to complete

LordXXX: No my rankings arn’t subjective for me as they fit my requirements and criteria, however, other people would def not be able to use it, its like personalized rankigs if you may to help me as an indicator for Uni choices…
I have been to Hk, not to HKUST yet, my parents hav been to HKUST already and I know quite a few people both in Hk and HKUST, all of us agree on the fact that the weather there is awesome! Does get very humid sometimes, but it is very pleasant for most of the year :)

yeah …HK has a sub tropical weather i guess …so its round 30 32 degC in the summers n round 10 15 degC in d winters on on average it is bou 20 -25 degC…so its quite pleasant as a place…

I know where Kyubaek90 is coming from, as I agree the weather in Hk can be awful at certain times of the year, but the thing that makes the weather of Hk bad is the humidity… the weather in Hk becomes very humid or rather oppressive, however thats where the awesome placement of HKUST comes in! As HKUST is next to the sea, most of the oppressiveness gets combated ! Its (comparatively) pleasant near HKUST and theres also lesser pollution!

10-15’C and average of 20-25’c is ****in great! Someone told me it sometimes goes even down to 0’c and there are typhoons during the summer
How about the weather in singapore? Must be hot I think…

But which place has better job prospects - singapore or hk?

Hey guys, i live in malaysia
