I just surfed on the web and found out that HKUST’s engineering dept was found to be the 5th best in asia and 25th in the world.
WOW…!! THATs something…
n do not wrry bou the suicidal rates … it is common in every college. It just depends on how one manages your course work and time. You can very well manage your play, fun and study if u want to… this is wot i say from pers experience…

I got and offer of admission from the University of Amsterdam today! Same programme as HKU (humanities). The choice isnt hard, I’m going to HKU!

Anyways, I have a completely random question I hope some of you can answer: I read somewhere that the beds in the halls are really small. I’m 6’4. Will the bed be too small?

@kenhungkk - Glad to read that the local perspective is that HKU rocks the humanities:D

@rebecca1234: Sorry for the late reply, I’ve been so busy with schoolwork. ^^; I live in Eastern Canada, so chances are you probably haven’t heard of the uni before, haha. I’m a bit afraid to say the name in a public forum because classmates might be able to recognize it’s me. I’ll PM you the university if you want though!

Should I have continued on? I thought it was over because the screen that came up was about securing/activating an option offered by the bank for my dad’s credit card, which I wasn’t interested in doing, and there wasn’t any other link to continue…

@Lordxxx- i am still favouring HKUST over HKU because HKUST seems better for engineering …But i hear stories of how hard the course in HKUST is and that makes me think otherwise…i think both options are good but i guess ill have to decide soon…
did you get an offer from HKU?? scholarship??

@Alecduz- I am 6’1 and i was concerned about the same earlier as i hear the rooms are really cramped but yeah, you are waaay taller…
you might want to check it with the admission /housing office…

Well, it’s not that bad sleeping in fetal-postition all the time, I guess, haha.

@LordXXX - Why Amsterdam U over HKU?

(I actually am in a bit of a doubt myself, as I got into the AUC departement, which is established as a small selective Honours college, and “co-owned” by Amsterdam University and VU Amsterdam University. Regarding academic issues, economic issues (cheaper to study in Netherlands), and future prospects, I think this might be a “safer” choice than HKU. On the other hand, living in the Netherlands will be rather similar to living in Norway…)

One (hopefully) last question, what documentation can I provide to prove “Documentation related to studies taken which the language of instruction was English”? I know it’s probably something really obvious but it’s not coming to me at the moment, haha…

A textbook? I’m assuming its something along the lines of that, though I haven’t heard any of my relatives talking about documentation of any sort…

I just received a letter from HKU saying tat my application will be given a provisional consideration by the faculties concerned. If the faculties decides to give me an (conditional) offer, they will notify me separately.

Since um not done wid my A lvls nd will be sitting for it in May/June, they want me to fulfill the minimum entrance requirement of achieving 2 E’s in Advanced Level and want me to let them knw the results by 20th Aug.

My Stats:
International Student (Bangladeshi) doing Edexcel curriculum
I applied for: Bsc Econ nd Finance
Applied on- 28th Jan
HKU received all my documents

What do u guyz have to say? Um kinda very tensed bout it!
