Holiday Shopping 2024

done!

I’m late in replying, but I have a large decorative wooden advent xmas tree that has openings about that same size. I used to do candy, small ornaments, etc, but there is only so much small stuff out there! ha! Then I started buying a holiday puzzle, dole the pieces into all the slots, then the puzzle slowly comes together as the month goes on. My daughter loves it as she is not into ā€œstuffā€ and likes this activity more. As long as you have a surface to assemble it and you note that the pieces are small enough to fit in your opening. I find lots of choices on Amazon.

The documentary about John Williams was great!

Are you meaning to post your tv watchings in the holiday shopping thread??

I got lucky this week and found a cute PlanToys set of fruit with tray and knife, all toddler-safe, that usually sells for $35 on Nordstrom’s site for $20 with free shipping. We already have a PlanToys vegetable set that I bought for older GD a couple of years ago and now her little sister plays with it every time she visits. I think this set will be a hit. I just have to decide if it stays here for babysitting days or goes to her house.

Sorry, it was because someone previously posted on this thread to be sure to cancel any Black Friday specials before we are switched to higher regular rates. Won’t post further movies here.

We’re not Xmas but if we were, I’d be tempted to get one or more of these advent calendars that showed up in my Facebook feed. Especially if there were little kids around. Too bad they don’t make one for the eight nights of Chanukah!

Tell them they need to come up with one!

This is cool looking:

Totally what I needed, thank you, great ideas!

Apparently there are plenty of menorah trains for sale. But not ones that run.

I did find a wooden menorah craft kit a few years back at Home Goods. The cat menorah in front was a gift from my mom many years ago. I would never actually light candles in it though!

Freya New York has 25% site wide, not sure how long it lasts. They are purveyors of ā€˜it’ girl bags.

I had seen that but here’s the thing. (To me)

$60 is a lot for an advent calendar. Those packers - if they are the same size as their usual sample packs - well they are more than one time use…so what is someone doing or how are they storing all those little open packs! Just seems like a process.

Do love Penzeys though

Those Penzey spices look super cute but yes, a bit pricey.

I’m considering one for my oldest S who likes to cook in his apt….but I’m also imagining the mess if those little packets everywhere in his small kitchen.

Decisions, decisions.

He’s hard to shop for so if he ended up liking specific ones then it might be helpful info for future Christmas ideas (fuller size spices).

Well, most of the trial bags are $2.49 (some more, sometimes on sale for $1). So 24x $2.49 is $59.76. Of course you might not like some of the spices (the Florida Mix is really good on fish), but it’s for fun.

I’m thinking of it for my daughter whose birthday is 12/14. She is impossible to buy for

You are making me think this could be a good gift for my son. If he’s messy with them, I won’t see it since he’s far away.
