Holiday Shopping 2024

I used the mini binder clips after folding over the cut top of the package, and then you can hang all the clips on a nail or hook them together.

Perhaps a tea bag organizer or sugar pack tray would work.

Excellent idea!

Maybe if they are clipped (some spices smell strong and some of the smells will NOT mix well together. Just seems like a lot of work for all (up to 24) little packages. Sure there are work arounds….but will the person gifted the calendar take the time? To be honest, I wouldn’t take the time to have all the little clips available, find a container, file them in, etc.

Good ol’ chocolate for my kids. We love Tony’s

Tony’s chocolate is delicious. I think this would be a good choice.

BTW, email today says today the Penzeys calendar is $54.99 - last day of the sale.

I just fold the tops and put a paper clip on them

My daughter send me a link to this website asking for either an 8 x 8 or 9x13 pan. Not sure how their products are but they have a good sale right now!

I bought her a 9 x 13. https://greatjonesgoods.com/products/hot-dish

I posted up thread that I made my own Penzey’s advent calendar for two of my adult children last year. One used paper clips to close the bags, the other used binder clips. One stored them in a large Ziplock. The other stored them in a Snapware type containers.

I get that those are all ways to store them. I guess it seems like a hassle to me x24.

For you as an adult who probably has a stocked spice rack. My kids are just starting out. They maybe had salt, pepper, garlic powder and red pepper flakes. For them it was fun to receive the different seasonings and experiement by adding them to eggs, sweet potato fries, chicken, fish etc. Some were winners and some were meh. For me, that’s the fun of an advent calendar, to try new things.

Last year I got my kids (HS and college) Advent Calendar Jigsaw Puzzles. Everyone found it relaxing to work on each piece for a few minutes each evening and slowly build the bigger picture.

I also like the WS popcorn one, particularly how you collect you items for 3-4 days and then put together a fancy bowl of popcorn, which is easy to share, so I was able to get a single calendar for the kids to enjoy together.

Which one did you buy?

The weather has finally cooled enough here that I can safely buy chocolate online. I’ll look at the specialty chocolates soon, but today I went ahead and ordered a bunch of Terry’s dark chocolate oranges from Target. The first one may get cracked open before Thanksgiving.

I also ordered two shirts from LandsEnd for H with his grandfather nickname embroidered above the chest pocket. That may be the extent of his gifts this year since he’s also talking about a riding lawn mower for next spring.

There are a whole bunch on Amazon. Personally I like the ones that form a single image better.

ETA - also great they can be reused, so passed on to my nephews the next year.

We (me, H, S, D and SIL) attended a wedding recently and we had someone take a picture of us. It rare that we are all together and also dressed up! I have a coupon from Minted and am going to have copies of that photo printed and framed for the kids. I am ordering an additional one for H and me.

Has anyone used an Etsy seller or similar who can make a tree ornament out of a wedding invitation???

I won’t attempt anything myself so no need to suggest a DIY!!!

I just used two coupons, one from REI and the other from Backcountry to order jackets for two grandkids. 20% off one item.
@BunsenBurner i also ordered for granddaughter the rainsuit you posted I think on the grandparents thread. It’s on sale.

One family asked for a dyson cordless vacuum. Please post if you see it on sale.

We were given a stained glass keepsake box with our wedding invitation embedded in the top. It is one of the most thoughtful gifts we’ve ever received. There are quite a few of these available on Etsy.

Another variation of wedding invitation as a gift to the newlywed couple: We were given a frame with our wedding invitation enclosed.
