Horrid coworker, should I say something?

Best move for you I’m sure.
Things just weren’t going to change for you.
Enjoy your summer…stress free!!!

I feel so relieved, it feels great. We are leaving tonight for a long weekend and I keep thinking I need to clean this, or organize that while I have a few hours. Then I remember I don’t have to! I can do it all at my leisure next week!

Great @conmama ! I’m so glad you are feeling relief and this difficult job was not needed to keep a roof over your head.

The boss indirectly but almost directly blaming you for his disorganization & bounced checks & in my case, missing invoices and unpaid bills … sounds very familiar to me. #mylife

Sounds like the financials might hit the fan soon, and it will be better for you to be gone and not available for them to blame for the mess. Hope you have a great summer

Didn’t realize the boss was so much of an issue. You did the right thing. I can’t believe he spoke to you like that!

They deserve each other.

Remember that you do not have to answer the phone when he calls. You can set boundaries with him, or block his number if he keeps on calling.

You might be willing to answer a few questions until you receive your final paycheck. But shut him down hard and fast, do not let his troubles sour your freedom this summer.

So proud of you for deciding what you want and putting your own health as top priority.

I walked away from a similar job situation last year. It was affecting my health, my stress levels, and the person involved had no compunction about walking all over people and stabbing me in the back, even after making many efforts at working together cooperatively. They have asked me several times to return to the board (I was both an employee and on the board of directors). I have declined.

Last week I got yet another email from them asking me to come show them how to update their website. They have not updated the announcements on it since April 2018, when I left. Two other people there have been trained in that task. If they aren’t willing to pay me a web developer’s rate (and they have no money to do so), then sorry. My replacement is a nice poerson and I feel sorry for They blew my good will.

@conmama, block your phone, go away for the weekend and ENJOY YOUR SUMMER!

I need to learn how to block my iPhone, I’ve never done that.

Go to contacts, click on the person’s name, scroll down. At the very bottom, it says block this caller. Boom, done! I love Apple operating systems

You can unblock on Monday if you want. Have a great weekend

For all of us who have quit a job that was Just Too Much, isn’t it empowering!! And as for me, I’m tremendously thankful that I didn’t need the job. I have had to suck up many a terrible situation simply because I needed the money. Conmama, have a wonderful weekend and enjoy every minute!

I think I’ll leave blocked forever! He knows my email, I just don’t want to talk to him. He’s one of those people who calls thinking everyone should be at his beck and call. He’s so unprofessional.

Phones are for the convenience for the person paying the bill, not the person placing the call. I agree with you to keep his number blocked forever.

I can’t block from my contacts that way, but I can from recent calls. Click on the little “i” on the right side, Scroll down, and hidden below “add to existing contact” is “block this caller”.

For a text, there are few more steps. Click on the text, click on the person’s name or phone number at the top, click on i for info, click on the arrow on the far right adjacent to the name/phone number, and click on “block this caller”.

Works well for robocallers and spam texts too. Of course, they call back from a slightly different number, but I just keep blocking.

When you block someone, do they know they’ve been blocked?

I read it goes to voicemail. I was hoping I’d never know if he called.

This brings back memories. I’ve only quit one job because of a boss (I’ve been lucky). My biggest regret was I hadn’t done it sooner rather than waiting for a bad situation to improve . I absolutely loved the position I had afterwards.

You did the right thing.

Right now I don’t even want to think of finding a new job. Perhaps when I start getting bored like I was, or maybe I’ll remember this experience and stay retired. I know I did the right thing, but what a pity. I feel bad because I need to let the turnaround accountant know. She’s the one who vetted me and basically said to hire me. I work with her for a day about every 3 weeks and have texted her frequently with questions. It was hard working somewhere where there was no other employee that was more knowledgeable and I could ask questions of when the occasion arose. I didn’t like that experience, I won’t ever do it again.

@conmama, just joining the chorus of those saying you did the right thing. Hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend and can look forward to your time with family this summer. I’m glad you made the decision to resign and prioritize your health and well-being.

The turnaround consultant will almost certainly understand. She may also know someone more same who could use you. Great person to have in your camp!

Glad your decision brought relief.
