Host needed for Day on the Lawn Sunday Night

We’ll be coming to Charlottesville for Day on the Lawn tomorrow - Sunday - AM and we’re planning to say at a motel. But my son recently visited his two other choices and in each case was able to stay on campus with a host student. He filled out the forms online for a host at Virginia last week but didn’t hear anything back. So I thought I might try a last minute more assertive approach to try to arrange this.

Here’s what I can tell you about my son. He’s an artist, doesn’t use drugs or drink and is more on the intellectual side of the spectrum. Both times that he stayed on campus this month I met with the host students and they seemed delighted to have met him and were interested in staying in touch.

Are there any Virginia students on board who might be willing to host him or are in contact with the students who are arranging the hosting?

I can be reached at : commonsense@gmail.com. I’ll check email regularly tomorrow.

Unfortunately, the Monroe Society needs a solid 10 working days to get hosts together. I know they are trying to accommodate everyone, but their requests have doubled this year.

If an overnight visit doesn’t happen, make sure he takes advantage of the Lunch Buddy program tomorrow.

Haha I find it hilarious when parents are the ones writing that their child doesn’t drink or use drugs.

Anyway hope your visit went well. UVa rocks.

Plenty of kids, while still in high school, don’t use drugs or drink.

LOL, what I meant to say is that he’s clever enough to keep both his parents, who happen to be pretty sharp themselves, believing that he doesn’t use alcohol or drugs.

Haha oh believe me I know, I happen to be a kid who doesn’t drink or use drugs, I just know many parents who believe their child is a perfect angel.

Much better lol. Always nice to see a parent who’s smart enough to correct themselves :)
