How are women "oppressed" by men?

^ LogicWarrior, I know you don’t have to make that choice, but that’s not sexism. Men can’t bear children, so that’s why you don’t get to make the choice. It’s not sexism, it’s just a fact. But men can take parental leave if they wish.

Men make more on average because for older generations, more men went to college, grad school, more men went into medicine, law and business. This is quickly changing for our generation. Women do get paid less for some of the same jobs, and that’s where the real sexism lies. But once again, we’re free to pursue careers in Medicine, Law, Business, etc. It’s our choice to make. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be a housewife/stay at home mom. I personally think I will be for at least 5 years. And I’m not some bimbo who acts dumb to make men happy, I’m going to be a neurologist.

Well, I suppose that is what males do. Maybe one day you’ll learn. Till then, you’re a disgrace to human rights. For having a penιs.

Do not use the Lord’s name in vain.

Whoa! Funny guy! Wooooooo

Apparently, there is a limit on caps…this, I did not know.

^ It’s da man tryin’ to keep you down.

YAWN (10char)

^ The Lord shall smite you one day. >:[

Powa to da man! get dem womenz outta da country!

I may smite myself later, but now is not the time.

^ Being the male chauvinist I am, I’m going to pretend “smite” is a euphemism for something dirrty.

So which is it, I don’t HAVE to make the choice, or I don’t GET to make the choice? Huge difference.

It’s your choice to make, but no one’s choices are made without regard to society’s perception of them.

No, only a euphemism for awesome. I’m going to “awesome” myself later. Awesome is now a verb.

What college does everybody here attend? (Trying to be amicable)

as a feminist i believe that if i can awesome myself then you too can awesome yourself

miracosta community college, ca

I think that the “rights” or “benefits” men have are open to fewer men than the “rights” given to women. Think about some double standards: there are more male CEO’s, there have only been male presidents, there are more male politicians, people care about men’s sports. But how many men does this really affect? The men who are given advantages because of chauvinism are few and far between, and that too, at the elite levels. For those of us who weren’t born into wealth, good looks, height, or immense talent, the “rights” or “advantages” given to 2% or less of the population are useless.

Also, we can address the double-standard of women being slts and men being players accordingly. Think about it–how many men get to sleep around? Most people are, by definition, average. It is only a small subset–say 15%–of guys who sleep around enough to be equivalent to a female version of a whore. So the lack of social judgment that falls upon a man for sleeping around only affects a very small subset of the population. In fact, I would argue that many men are denigrated for NOT having slept around. Could you imagine how many guys lie about having been with many women? If the truth came out, many men would be humiliated if it were known that they had not been sexually active for some time. Women, on the other hand, would not face the same stigma. Which is harder, sleeping with many people or not sleeping with many people? Although it might be tempting for some females to argue the latter (barring the case of rape), I would disagree.

I awesomed across the room the other day.

PolPHD, your points are really good, but they’ve been torn to pieces already.

I think this thread is dead, but I’m not sure.

All of those family fortunes are passed down through the men though. And not all guys get to sleep around but it’s encouraged unlike with women.

^ Woman hater.
