How can I quote previous posts in my replies?

I’ve tried reading through the “Help & Rules” section a few times, but can’t seem to find it.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info.

birdrock, you are undoubtedly smarter than me. Even with this link, I still don’t understand HOW you actually get the quote in there?

It’s easy. Using your keys type the bracket and the word quote and close bracket.
[quote ]
Then copy and paste the part you want to quote right next to the close bracket. then right next to the copied text use the bracket again, then the slash, then the word quote and close bracket like this -[ /quote ]. (But don’t put any spaces in. I had to insert spaces or it would have shown as a quote.) When it posts it will look like the above quote. It does not look like that until you post it.

I was about to write that most forums (forumses?) have a “quote” button that does that for you… but I see right below this reply box, to the left in an option box, “Quote message in reply?”… so what happens when I check that box?

Answer: Nothing!

oh well, back to the tags, [quote} and [/quote}

I can’t figure this out. Where are these brackets on my keyboard?

How come I can’t do this

[tencharactersquote]

[help me/quote]

Trying again…

Aha…I figured it out…but I think it’s easier to just

I am going to try it too.

Did that work?

Yea! That’s a good Christmas present! OP, thanks for asking!

(I hope it works…)

Now that I know how to do THAT, can someone tell me how to make a smiley??

Leave out the spaces between the characters:

: ) = ![]()
: D = ![]()
: ( = ![]()
: rolleyes : =

seiclan, you need a forward slash / before the second quote.

Also, you can all see whether something will work or not by previewing your post. In the Quick Reply box, just click on “Go Advanced”.
