I am an international student and recently took SAT 1.
However,it was really disgusting and I failed to score high on CR section.
Please,Can anyone give me advice on improving my CR scores.

Thank you.

Or take the ACT. All universities accept it in lieu of the SAT and its English section does not test vocab, so it somewhat easier for non-native speakers.

In ACT, do you have to work as fast as you do in SATs… like tick away? And how much does it cost to register?

The ACT costs about as much as the SAT but the writing section is optional and not taking it makes the test significantly cheaper (I think it’s $43 with writing and $29 without, but better check yourself)

On the ACT you will have to work faster than on the SAT. I always finished the SAT reading sections (on practice tests) with extra time, but on the ACT (the real test) I had trouble finishing the reading section on time.

When taking practice tests I felt that the SAT was hard because the questions were hard but the ACT was hard mainly because of a lack of time.

I eventually went with the ACT and I think it was the right choice.

SATs == out of the time in every section for me x-x (well except for Math)

I wish I could work in CR as math section.there arent lot about
stuffs like integral,ln…But CR is full of vocabularies where everytime I encounter with new words.
How many sections are there in ACT?Doz ACT english section test ur knowledge in literature or is it like SAT CR?

The ACT has 4/5 sections:
English, Reading, Math, Science and an optional writing section.

English covers mostly grammar (spotting and correcting mistakes in a given text), the reading section tests your reading comprehension, math is similar to the SAT’s math section and the science section tests your ability to work with graphs and tables (but it requires only really basic concepts, like velocity = distance / time).

If you opt to do the writing, you have to write a straight forward argumentative essay (Should school uniforms be obligatory at public high schools?)

ıt seems easier…how much time do the give for whole test?

You have about 3 hours for the mandatory 4 sections and 30 minutes for the essay:

And you can have a look at sample sections here:

You have see if ACT is offered where you live as well.

If you are a slow reader, ACT will hurt you more. The passages aren’t hard read but they’re much longer and questions are not in order.

yeah,I think it is not offered everywhere like SAT.

You’re right!
It’s not offered in my place, for instance.

b@r!um,did u take the ACT test?

I did (and got a 34 out of possible 36).

714nD1, where in Albania do you live? The ACT is offered in Tirana as far as I know.

To everyone, please don’t get my wrong. I am not saying that the ACT is easier or better than the SAT, only that students should consider it as an alternative if they are not happy with their SAT score.

The SAT isn’t offered everywhere as well. I think it isn’t offered in China for example. But ACT isn’t offered in many places, including my country. Otherwise I would have definitely looked into it, and so would have others.

Tsubie-chan,u r tight. I always came up with the notice that Chinese students can submit their GRE scores instead of SAT as there are no SAT centers.Of course,it isnt offered in every country, even it isnt offered in my country either. :frowning:

b@r!um, u really did well on ACT.

Tsubie-chan, the ACT website says that there is an ACT test center in Bangladesh (the American International School in Dhaka).
