Yes I am aware of the definitions and implications of AA; I was just asking if that’s what the previous posters meant.

Doesn’t it start next week though?

But NYU says that everyone should have their letters by the 15th

a girl i know who goes to Beacon high school (public schools in NYC) got C in her most of classes and smoked weed everyday, and got into Wharton school of UPENN only because her father was retired (3 yrs ago) uni of columbia student dean. according to the rumor, it was all done by her father’s just a phone call to upenn.

life is definately unfair, so i guess we just have to suck it up.

. . . I know this I’m EXTREMELY late to post but just wondering who applied Early Decision???

CAS is nowhere near as challenging to get into as Stern. =/ Stern and Tisch are far harder to get into than any other undergrad program at NYU. Two of my suitemates and several more of my close friends are all super-tryhards on campus and work in the admissions office as ambassadors, and they all say there’s factual proof to what everyone’s always said for years. CAS is not that hard to get into, especially because of how much they love to defer kids from CAS to LSP.

I applied ED…

i know someone who got into ivy with 1.5ish Gpa. no joke. sucky SAt’s too. There are always those special cases

They might get in to Ivys with so slow GPA ans SATs but will they be able to stay there? According to stats if a kid has never taken an AP course in HS they have a very hard time sustaining in college.

I’m guessing the 2.8 was a Tisch minority student with wealthy alumni donor parents …

lol i wonder y it is always tisch ? LOL

I know tons of other lsp kids LOL and cas kids who got really low score LOL way lower than tisch kids LOL…wow LOL

Are there any Stern kids that you know of that don’t have the greatest stats?

Back when my classmates and I were applying to colleges, one could routinely gain admission to NYU CAS with an 80-85/100 GPA as long as one’s SATs were above a 1000/1600 (Pre-1995). Stern required higher stats of at least a 88+/100 and around a 1250+/1600.

Depends on the high school they attended. If it was a mainstream average public or private school, that’s one thing.

If it was an academically rigorous school…even public ones like Bronx Science or Stuyvesant, that non-AP/IB kid could end up running rings around those with sky-high GPAs, scores of AP/IB classes/credits, etc. Saw it happen with several friends who were C-level students at those places who ended up graduating with at least cum laude level GPAs at elite universities like Columbia and Brown.

According to my school’s naviance, someone got into NYU with a 2.81 regular decision.

Can an African-American with a

@sarahswims- possibly. are you going for swimming? that would be your hook.

I disagree with Alexxmichele.

NYU isn’t big on sports and playing a sport doesn’t seem to have any weight on admissions. With those test scores and GPA, it’s just not at all realistic.

I got in with a 3.0 Uw gpa. max overload of ap’s all 3 years along with a nice resume and a 32 on my ACT and 2010 on my sat along with 3 subject tests (math 2/chem/bio all above 750)

I am ridic proud atm.

I disagree with NYU2013 a kid from my high school was offered half his tuition aprox. 20,000 per year to come fence for NYU. Depending on how good you are and if you’ve had contact with the NYU swim coach is a big factor.
