epiphany, we’re thinking it is an issue related to the technical problems the site has been having. That ad is very unlike CC. As you can tell, I am still having issues - my posts all show up at 2:38 pm Friday.
On another thread, someone suggested downloading Adblock - you have to google it plus the name of your browser, so that you get the right version. It was a very quick download and worked immediately - no McDonald’s ad anymore!
Are you folks serious? A moving McDonald’s ad on every page, BLOCKING THE TEXT of posts? When you have the option to close it, you click Close and NOTHING HAPPENS. The stupid McDonald’s moving ad keeps opening wider and wider, obscuring the messages.

Sorry, epiphany, this was a technical malfunction. McDonald’s isn’t a real advertiser on CC, this was inadvertently enabled while we were working on the ad system.
One of the things we strive for in our ads is relevance. Many times, I’ve bought a magazine for the ads more than the content - that works only when the ads address the specific needs of the reader/viewer. (Not that we don’t have a few McDonald’s fans among our base!)
I have a question, though - did the ad block posts when the page loaded, or only if you clicked a much smaller ad in the corner? We don’t do popups or popunders, and we don’t expect any ads to block our content. Thanks.
If I remember right, Roger, the ad blocked posts when you scrolled over a “bent corner” of the page in the top right, then you had to click a small “x” to roll the page back up (it was as though you pulled the bent corner down and across to the left to reveal the ad on the page behind).
Yes, and sometimes the ad enlarged so that it covered up a good bit of the page.
