<p>Re: thread title content - I think if you’v participated on any message boards you learn to make your thread title specific and interesting - if I see a thread entitled something like, “I have a question” or “Help Me With My Son” - I’m probably not going to click and read.</p>

That’s facinating. I don’t proactively subscribe to threads. I merely post. My control panel “Subscribed Threads” list is chock full. </p>
<p>I think what I’m learning is that CC forum behavior varies by user, according to his or her settings. The default I assumed isn’t real.</p>
<p>@TheGFC, the “no email notification” is now the default setting when subscribing. I think in the past the default setting may have been one of the affirmative email settings.</p>
<p>Dougbetsy–nope–no threads of any kind listed in my Control Panel (and i had to think for a moment where to find that, since it’s something I so seldom use.)</p>
<p>Ah–okay, when I looked at settings , it has a part called “Default Thread Subscription Mode” where, sometime in the mists of the distance past, I must have clicked “do not subscribe.” So, that’s why. i had no interest in email notifications, and otherwise didn’t get the point of subscribing. (I have never checked subscribed to anything on line, mostly because i don’t quite get what its purpose is, at least for me–i understand it works well for others).</p>
<p>I subscribe for instant emailed notification of posts on my beloved College Class of '13 thread. I also subscribe for instant notification on threads I start because hey, I’m interested in myself!</p>

I only get the stars for threads I’ve posted in (no subscription). I subscribe to threads I start (with email) so I can keep up with responses (although I like mp’s answer better).</p>
<p>Like Garland, I’m not subscribed to any threads. I never go to my control panel. I just go straight to the main list of threads. I definitely don’t want my email littered with notices about new posts.</p>

<p>I subscribe to threads I create and post on for above reasons. Also those of interest even if I don’t post. But, I always opt for no email notification.</p>
<p>For some reason when I post to a thread it automatically shows up in my subscribed list. There must be a way to turn that feature on or off.</p>

<p>^ If you want email notification on the threads you are automatically subscribed to, you can unsubscribe on “thread tools” and re-subscribe and select your email preference then.</p>
<p>I’ve never “ignored” anyone, either. It would be too weird to read a conversation with missing pieces. If I needed to, I guess I could ignore manually…by not reading. :)</p>

<p>So I guess I’m still not seeing why you’d WANT to subscribe if you can “bookmark” - unless you only want to view your subscribed threads and not be tempted to click on other links…</p>

<p>^Okay - so I feel silly asking this but here goes…exactly how do you ‘bookmark’ a thread and how is that different from subscribing? I’ve read people say they’re bookmarking a thread but have never understood how you do it.</p>
