Here’s hoping that the rest of us still standing get news - AND GOOD NEWS - before Gibson goes to maintenance mode on Sunday!

The time is accurate. I use my iPad when I am up sometimes, then fall back to sleep.

OMG!!!

Just saw it online–DS accepted!—had to read it three times to be sure. I’m at McDonald’s and people must think I’ve lost my mind b/c I keep blinking back tears and silently mouthing the words, “Oh My God, Oh My God.”

I know I’ve missed some other acceptances from you all in the last couple days b/c I haven’t been on this thread since earlier in the week. But congrats to all.

Now my next concern is—oh my god–how on earth can we really pay for this w/o going into major debt??? Hoping the financial aid/merit pkg is solid.

Congrats Kelijake!!!

Congratulations KeliJake! So excited for you. The rest of you that are waiting WILL get the outcome you want. How could you not? You have all your friends on CC pulling for you.

I have to say, It is more exciting talking to everyone on CC about this than anyone! A lot of my friends’ kids haven’t heard yet so I can’t be TOO excited when talking to them.

FYI- If anyone is interested in getting their DC ( Darling child) a sweatshirt for the holidays, call the store directly SOON. Very slim pickings unless they are a large. The online store shows they have inventory that they don’t have and the salesperson told me they won’t be getting any more in until September which I found very surprising.

Congrats Kelijake!

I just found out I got in.

Congrats Flyboy2tf! Great news to start your weekend.

Yeah for FFFFFLLLLLYYYYBBBOOYYY!!! (and anyone I missed). Now you can relax for a bit and just enjoy.

Congrats to everyone who has been accepted!!! So happy for you!! DS has been wearing Tulane sweatshirt since we got home (it’s been washed in the middle) … Not sure if that’s meaningful or not. On our way to cousins in Boston right now for the holiday… Wearing the sweatshirt he must know he will be asked about it. Picked up DD from college today (benefit to being an English major - mo finals) she and DS will be sharing a hotel room this weekend. Her marching orders include finding out where her brother’s head is in the admissions process!

Rooting for all of you who are still waiting, esp jaynebe. Is Tulane a top choice for DD? Wouldn’t it be a coincidence if our younger kids also ended up at the same school?

Eagerly waiting in Southern California (UGH!) … I am hoping all of you who have posted that there is no rhyme or reason to the acceptances are correct! My son’s stats are 4.0 weighted, 32 ACT, 2190 superscore SAT, 100’s of hours of community service … BUT had to send in a letter acknowledging a recent school suspension (a stupid lapse of judgement). I am wondering if his recent suspension is holding up his decision. Anyone know how the admissions committee deals with suspensions. He wrote a great letter showing remorse and what he learned from the experience. Any insight - PLEASE!!

What little anecdotal evidence I have seen over the last 5 or 6 years (2 cases) says they are very open to forgiving isolated acts if it does appear that a lesson was learned. In both the cases I saw they were accepted, but in neither case was the transgression what I would call particularly egregious. Pranks that went over the line, no doubt, but no one was hurt and they didn’t involve felonies. Technically they did commit misdemeanors, but no charges were filed in either case.

So if the transgression wasn’t too terribly serious in the grand scheme of things, I imagine they won’t hold it against him. It might be causing a delay only in that perhaps cases like this have to be reviewed by the admissions committee rather than the adcom deciding themselves. I don’t know that, just thinking that would be logical and would result in some delay. But even then, depending on what he did exactly, I wouldn’t think it would hurt his chances. I am also assuming that was his first and only suspension.

Someone in admissions must have heard all the rooting Mavitale and Linymom were doing because my D was (finally)accepted tonight! So for anyone still waiting there IS hope!! Thank you all for being such a supportive and awesome group!

FINALLY!!! CONGRATS JAYNEBE!!! Happy Weekend!

Ok Jaynebe…it’s your turn…HHHHOOOOORRRRAAAYYYYY JJJJJJJAAAAAAYYYYYNNNNEEEEBBBBEEEE!!!

Congrats Jaynebe!

Jayne, so happy for you! Have you visited or are you planning to?

You and mavitale are friends IRL? Small world!

Jaynebe, congratulations. We’ve all been rooting for you and that rooting continues for the rest of you that are waiting!

Congrats fly also!

Thanks everyone!!! So very happy for my D who STILL doesn’t know!!! She hasn’t been home at all since her status changed on Gibson and probably won’t check it until late tomorrow afternoon! I’m not sure how I’m not going to spill the beans the minute I see her!?
Linymom, we haven’t visited yet but plan to very soon! And Mavitale and I have been “real life” friends for over 17 years!

Thank you fallenchemist … yes it was his first and only offense/suspension - no one was hurt - no misdemeanors and no charges were filed. I am hoping that the admissions committee will see this as a minor transgression and will look at his entire record when judging his application. Do you know if decisions are posted over the weekend?
