Exetermama - merit info is shown in the paper letter only, for now. Congrats! That is a funky grading system, btw.

Then what abt Kellyjake

Is kellyjake positive? If so, then my theory is out the window. However, it seemed to me as if she didn’t know for sure

There is also pink pig who said she was accepted with the status, and anyways why would they make a false status just to make it a deferral later?

Who knows why the status changes occur… Perhaps these are apps that the admissions director could not make an easy up or down decision on, and they are then forwarded on to committee for full review/discussion? I could easily see my daughter’s app needing a committee review. Her grades/gpa/test scores are good, but on the lower end of the ea group. She has shown interest, I’m sure has great recs (we don’t see them), has best grades/test scores in area of interest…she is an old soul, not a typical teen, and I believe the essay topic she chose to write really expressed that old soul of hers and who she is. We’ll see. Other schools have responded to her immediately, with merit offers…but maybe Tulane just isn’t for her. (though she is convinced NOLA is the place she belongs…!)

The reality is that only a small number of applicants are on this site. So the information is only as good as the people. There maybe people who have gotten these messages and been accepted.

Pasaden - That’s an excellent theory. I’m with you on that!

Wordy, FC’s advice is super solid. DD should not stand on ceremony and should inquire as to why she was deferred so she can address that asap. I am so sorry for you both for the less than good news, but she’s such a strong candidate I have a hard time believing she won’t get in RD. Keeping fingers and toes crossed for you that it all works out. She sounds like a fabulous young woman and any college community will benefit from having her there.

getmein12- I had the “application complete” status for about 2 days. Then it changed to the “pending review by the committee” status for 2 days and then i was accepted!!

Pink pig you are my hero

There is hope! Thanks PinkPig…it’s now been 2 long days since DD went from app complete to under review…still prepared for the deferral letter but hopeful that we are too pessimistic

Okay. Now I have the pending message. I don’t think this is good new per say.

When I log in, my page says:

“Your application is complete. The Committee on Admission is working to render your decision as quickly as possible. If you have questions regarding your status, please call the Undergraduate Admission Office at 800-873-WAVE (9283).”

Does anyone else’s say this too?

Don’t lose hope - we got an acceptance just last week - letter came TODAY w/$20,000 in merit YAHHHHHHHHHH!! I thought because we heard so late we would not get $$$ but now that theory is out the window. This changes everything…

lol mich…that is what this discussion has centered around. Basically many of us had the message you show, before suddenly changing to “Your decision is pending review. We will try to get you a decision soon, but you will receive an update on your admission status by December 15th at the latest.” - then either getting a def or accept. Some have never changed from your message to the pending one, and got an accept. So it’s all a mystery…

Congrats bloomy! That’s great!

Wow, Bloomy!! That’s fantastic!

I’ve been holding off commenting since page 1-i’ve been a lurker and know all of you and your children’s stats!! My daughter applied end of sept-this wait has been like a rollercoaster. Her stats are low but were convinced by admissions to apply b/c they do accept 25% less so she applied SCEA and wrote a nice “why” Tulane essay.
However since Monday her status changed to the Dec 15th comment and i’ve been convinced now that the deferral letter is coming. The mail came today and still no letter. So happy Pinkpig confirmed again that she had the same status change. So excited for all of you who have been accepted. Hoping that we get there too.

Bloomy, that is wonderful news! I have resisted this so far, but I will join Vitrac in I TOLD YOU SO. LOL. So does this make Tulane even more competitive with PSU? Are you instate for PSU?

Congrats bloomy!! Best of luck to those waiting!
