How soon will we hear about admission decision?

MY BOYFRIEND GOT IN WITH PENDING MESSAGE!!! It doesn’t mean anything

I have been following Tulane threads as well as other schools. I have a child at Tulane, interview for a highly ranked University(my alma mater) and have had children attend 4 other schools. I have been very involved in the process for all of them. I have to say the admission process at Tulane is sub par and for such a good school it is hard to comprehend. Gibson is a joke. Too many oops, snafus, lost applications, EA considered RD, changing messages, materials sent in not received, misfiled, left on xeroz machines etc…The admissions counselors seemed to be doing as good a job as they can with the volume of applicants and the system. They must be overwhelmed. Tulane has had issues in previous years and they seem to be getting worse. A friend’s child was accepted in October. He was told he would get an admissions package within 2 weeks. Nothing. He called and after much confusion was told something would come out in the spring. They are seriously reconsidering decision and applying to other schools. Maybe they should give a couple less scholarships and improve the process.

Fallen Chemist- you are an asset to the students and parents on this forum and I applaud you. Please consider summarizing the issues you have seen and discussing with admissions.

On another note, once you are in …its a great school and the kids thrive there.

Agree that they are probably overwhelmed with the number of applications they get, and the free app may have something to do with it. That said, even also having had a kid have his app materialsinitially put in 2 separate folders before they finally figured it out and fixed it (partially his fault, perhaps, as she switched from filling out the freebie app sent to him to using the common app), they are nicer and easier to deal with than some other schools admissions staff. I won’t name names, but some were a bit surly or non-responsive.

As for an “admisions package”… if they are expecting FA information, that does not come out until the spring. All that they will get now is the acceptance letter with any info re: merit award/honors program if they were offered that.

On admitted student website it states…within 2 weeks after admittance you will gain access to personalized admitted student website. (not verbatim)… its been over 6 weeks and nothing!!! Another glitch 2matts… they should fix or remove. How do you send in deposit? get info?

Does this status still read “Pending” or “Accepted”?

it reads accepted

Another day-no change of status-nothing in the mail. Torture! I wish they would just get it over with already. Happy to hear someone else had the same status and got accepted but not looking hopeful.

Hang in there if you are still waiting - only 2 more days - good luck!!!

My mail hasn’t come yet today…

I’m on pins and needles. I wish it would come already. I feel like I’m just waiting for a deferral.

Alright, after reading the posts on here as well as statistics on college board, I am very confused. Does Tulane use deferral and waitlisting? Or one or the other? College board posted these stats:

Offered place on wait list: 3,745
Number accepting place: 1,009
Accepted from list: 15

[Tulane University Admission Blog - Jeff](<a href=“Tulane University Admission Blog - Jeff Schiffman”>Tulane University Admission Blog - Jeff Schiffman)

Defer info from the TU Admission Blog

Those, of course, are two different steps completely. Tulane does defer people from the EA pool to the RD pool, in fact it appears they mostly do that as opposed to outright denial at this stage. Then when they have made all the decisions for the RD pool, many are waitlisted (as you can see from those stats), and certainly some of them were people that were deferred from EA.

@northwesty where does it say anything about deferrals? thanks

northwesty - I don’t see info about deferment but it is a very good run down on merit aid. Looks like Tulane has started looking more at allocating aid based on certain desired talents and interests, you were right. No wonder it is so much harder to make correlations this year! Theorizing was fun, but ultimately it didn’t have a prayer.

Of course he does say it is still centered on academic merit, so as we have said previously, and I have told various people in PM’s, wait to ask for an increase until you have something positive to show them, like great first semester grades from senior year. Anyway, everyone that was talking about this subject should 100% read that blog post. Right from the source.

So back to your post, northwesty, what am I missing where he talks about deferrals?

Gibson is down -_-

Gibson isn’t loading for me! Is anyone else having this problem?

Jinx, Pruneface!

Hopefully this means they’re just putting in a whole new round of acceptances!

My D at Tulane also texted me that Gibson is down, she was trying to load her transcript for a job application. So not just the admissions part.

aaaaaaand it’s back.
