This is excruciating…status has been pending for 4 days now…still resigned to being deferred but no letter yet. DD seems to be OK with it…for now…this is the first school that she will hear from and it was a bit of a reach.

Oh, OK. I quit reading his posts. Not sure how reliable that is, given his prevarication on earlier posts. But again, who knows. It is possible, certainly.

I think the generous deadline extension might have really stimulated interest. Hard to say. I would guess it pushed some RD people to EA, but then the RD number should be low. Still, 42000 is higher than last year’s total. I guess we will hear some official numbers soon.

Yes, I would think after the January 15 deadline. I agree, anyone filling out the application before November 15 (or this year November 26) you would think would do EA rather than RD. Why wouldn’t you? Obviously some don’t, I guess one reason would be if you applied for early notification at another school where the terms are like Tulane’s SCEA. Otherwise I don’t see a downside.

DS told me last night about his friend, #3 in his class, who was deferred from Tulane. She told him, “Your school doesn’t want me!” Very high stats kid. I don’t know what she did or didn’t do throughout the process, but I would guess it’s in line with the thinking we have discussed here about Tulane not admitting kids off the bat who have really high stats and seem to be using it as a safety (having not shown any love). She truly was disappointed though. DS didn’t say what her other choices are, and he certainly is not the type to gloat, but I could tell he felt like it was a real feather in his cap to have been accepted!

All of you who have been accepted should be really proud of yourselves! Hard work pays off!

Just a quick pause among my Tulane buddies on this thread to appreciate our lives, our kids, our families and friends. No matter the results of this crazy college process, we appreciate all we have on this terrible day for our Connecticut neighbors.
