How soon will we hear about admission decision?

OMG. DS got in today!!! He is beyond belief happy and so am I. He is definitely going!!!

Aquamom—yahooooooo!!! Congrats!

And there you have it. A great result Aquamom, aided by a calm, adult-level communication with admissions to correct a mistake. Sometimes the right thing does happen, and in this case pretty quickly!

Yes, FC. My faith is restored. Congrats to Aquamom and S3. Looks like a great class of 17!

I just want to know!!!

Elizabeth and Aquamom, I hope it was worth the wait! I am so happy for both of you. ( You too Madre- I think I already congratulated you.)

I had to laugh. My DD asked me for my credit card number today. When I asked her what for she said she wanted to pay for Tulane. ( Ok, maybe it was one of those “you had to be there moments.” I thought she was ordering a shirt or something, not paying for college!!)

Congrats Aquamom, I’m glad that it all worked out…

Congrats aquamom and any others who were recently admitted. Haha Oliver, that’s funny. xD I can’t wait to visit in January and buy some Tulane gear.

Oliver - You forgot to tell us if you gave it to her! Black Card, anyone?

Does anyone know what time tomorrow decisions go out for those of us who still haven’t received a decision?

We have been sitting on pins and needles reading these posts. My son visited Tulane this summer and even met the advisor. He was really excited about it! He even applied for the Dean’s Scholarship. He has had straight A’s throughout high school and 5 AP’s this year. He is the trifecta kid!! He is top academically, top athlete, AND a top musican!! He is a 1st string starter on Varsity soccer, 4 year player, 1st chair trumpeter, has been only kid in symphonic(top band all 4 years), made region orchestra, district band, region band, AREA twice now. He plays in the church brass band and has many volunteer hours. He even did the optional essay on Tulane’s application. He received in one sitting a 32 ACT, with 35 in Reading, and 34 in Math!
He just received a DEFERRAL from Tulane! What???He was heart broken. I called because the letter stated to send in more test scores and updated grades and he can be reevaluated during regular decision. Sounds like a standard letter to me!

That is extremely unfortunate, bandmom. Your son sounds like a fairly solid applicant… I would do as the letter states and send in any new test scores or good first semester grades. Although I think when they reevaluate him for RD he will have a good chance of being accepted. I am really sorry to hear about the deferral. Good luck to your son and I hope he makes it.

Is he considering other schools? I am sure he will be successful no matter where he ends up.

Oh, by the way, he is competing in one of the largest school districts in the nation at a 5A school! The advisor said that it was solely due to his interest level. How do you show more interest than visiting, meeting the advisor, and applying for one of the top scholarships??? I am not sure, but I think something was lost or misplaced along the way. Has anyone had this happen to them?? We really don’t know what to do or what to think of this now!

Bandmom, maybe she felt his essay wasn’t sincere? Not saying it wasn’t, just trying to contribute here.

So sorry bandmom. It doesn’t make sense. He sounds like a great kid.

To Bowler:Yes he did apply to other schools and I started thinking that maybe this was the problem?? They ask you to list schools you are applying to and he put Duke, Emory, Vanderbilt UT Austin… maybe they thought he wasn’t serious about Tulane then?? The thing is Tulane is one of a few schools that offer his area of study and geographically is one of the best choices too!

If that is the case and someone earlier got in with a 27 ACT and lessor qualifications, and thought they were going to be deferred, THEN I guess interest IS everything!! I suppose we should have hounded them!! Interestingly though, other schools told us that they really don’t care for that method and get upset if you keep calling them.

Bandmom - It sounds like he did everything right. Something else seems to be wrong here, because this doesn’t make much sense based on what you are telling us. I sent you a PM.

Thanks everyone.

To:fallenchemist I did get it and responded. Thanks!
