i am going to get a B in English that i don't deserve

<p>Recently, I cracked some jew jokes in english class ( i have nothing against jewish people and i am not an antisemitist) but i didn’t realize my english teacher was jewish.</p>

<p>now he has given me some really bad grades on essays (subjective grading)</p>

<p>This is going to give me a B in the class. Is there anything I can do at this point?</p>

<p>The essays scores I received (C+) is not what i deserve, I am almost confident my work is A - level (A in AP Eng. lang Junior year) (A in Eng. lit first semester)</p>

<p>He has a right to seek disciplinary action for your comments. He doesn’t have a right to penalize your academic record. You can try talking to him about it and apologizing. If that doesn’t work, you could try talking to the administration. You just have to consider that even if you get your grade in English raised, you could end up with different consequences for having made “racist” jokes. </p>

<p>While I agree that the teacher should not necessarily punish you via an essay grade, perhaps he knew that was the one way to get your attention?</p>

<p>Whatever you do, I would certainly expect an apology.</p>

<p>Maybe your essay just wasn’t as good as you thought it was. However, if you still think that you were unjustly penalized why don’t you just apologize to your teacher privately about what you said and try to get your grade raised.</p>

<p>In fairness, ethnic stereotypes are incredibly common premises for jokes. Telling such a joke does not imply a truly racist attitude. Also, I sometimes have found myself belittled by Jewish people who believed themselves to be part of an inherently superior racial group, although anti-semitism is an equally wrong mindset. I really see no basis for insulting the OP so harshly.</p>

<p>I think it’s funny that the first person you blame for your poor performance is your teacher. Like the great theeboy3 could NEVER get below an A on an essay. It MUST be the teacher’s fault</p>

<p>In any case, I agree with WoodrowWilsonJR… jokes can be racial without being necessarily racist [though, as i don’t know you at all, you could be a racist ■■■■■■■ and I wouldn’t know it].</p>

<p>Anyway: suck it up, apologize to the teacher. You made a joke in bad taste, but you shouldn’t be unfairly penalized for it.</p>

<p>Jewish isn’t a race…LoL HSL has gotten a lot stupider since I last posted. Being Jewish implies Judaism, which is a religion. -.-</p>

<p>And yes, you should be punished and get low essay grades. If I was your teacher and because I’m Jewish, I’d give you lower and lower grades on all your non-test assignments just to **** you off.</p>

<p>Your lack of common sense is astounding, especially for a person who has received an A in AP Lang. At the very least you should say sorry to your teacher for your poor sense of judgment. Otherwise, man up, take the B, and treat it as a life lesson.</p>
