I finished HP7: Wow - Please no SPOILERS in this thread

lol not 20 hours looking at the book. it took me 5 hours 15 minutes to finish. i was so into it that I didn’t even notice the time passing by.

wow, 5 hours and 15 minutes?? i finished in exactly 12 hours…possibly with some distractions in between XP but the book was definitely the best in the series… very dramatic…quite impressive.

lol I actually didn’t plan on buying the book. I was just gonna go on some website in a couple days and find out what happened but while shopping for cleaning supplies with my parents today there was a whole stack of them at the store for 19 bucks so I picked one up. Unfortunately my mom is keeping the book till I finish all my summers assignments. ffs =/

that was the best book in the series imo

Just finished reading it – epilogue was rather lame.

The series was gripping as usual (and the 7th was better than the 6th). What disappointed me was that much of the plot was really just a giant deus ex machina, but I guess that’s true for a lot of the other books too. I just never noticed it until now.

I think the older I get, the less I like this series. Or maybe it was just that everyone was making such a big deal out of it and I expected it to be so much better than it actually was.

the fastest person to read the book was someone in UK, read it in only 45 minutes or something. totally insane!

she saved the best for last.

“Just finished reading it – epilogue was rather lame.”
—No, It wasn’t. If it wasn’t there everybody would have been asking her for a follow or a “HP 8” which just make the whole only seven years of Hogwarts thing a flop.
So kuddos to Rowling on a job well done.

$19!!! it’s times like this that I wish that I lived in US. :(

I agree with j245rash. The epilogue, though somewhat out of place and style was necessary to cement the ending of the series so that book 8 will not be written to completely undermine the significance for the first 7 books. It was a good series, and I’m glad it has been concluded so brilliantly.

^ Yeah, it was necessary, but it was badly written. The same things could’ve been much better written, in the same setting.

Hmm… I’ve never read a book that fast. Another check on my list of “things to do before I die”.

I didn’t think the epilogue was really bad or badly written, just lame in the sense that it made everything seem kind of cliche with a perfectly happy ending, like nothing bad ever happened.

I went looking for the very first hp book, but it seems to have disappeared, lol. No one has it!

It was great!!!

And now I feel like I’m somehow older and wiser than I was yesterday. After growing up with Harry Potter, I think I finally feel ready to let him go. It was a good 10 years…

Awesome esp. the end

Is it better than Goblet of Fire? That was the best so far IMO. The plot was hella intricate in that one.

On par with Goblet of Fire and Order of Phoenix, if not better.

I’ll be honest the beginning of the book and the final 1/3 of the book were excellent, very well written . The middle section seemed to drag on a little and I lost some interest from chapter to chapter. The epilogue was terrible, the style was horrific and elementary at best. Furthermore, it wasn’t really an epilogue in the truest sense. Perhaps she should have been like Tolstoy and written a second epilogue to supplement the information on the first, because the cliche and sappy first epilogue tarnished the reputation of the series a little.

Also this book is third in my opinion to Half Blood Prince and Goblet of Fire.

no one has book 1…it’s nowhere to be found!

Wow you guys read really fast!! I wasn’t reading at a casual pace, sort of taking my time…w/ food/breaks, and I took like 17ish hours (w/ breaks). Too slow? :stuck_out_tongue: (I don’t really read a lot, but Reading on the ACT was my best score [35]. What’s the deal??)

As for the movie, I think this will be doable.
