PP - the honorary dude.

^Lol, I think dude has become a gender neutral term now. Even my girlfriends use that sometimes. That doesn’t mean any of us have any wish of becoming an icky boy now. ![]()
SCORE!

Today!:D

Oh I’m so excitedd! :DMy anime crazy friends (they make me feel quite inadequate with their knowledge about anime) recently came over this authentic japanese place on the outskirts of the city run by REAL JAPANESE PEOPLE!!
So we’re going to have Udon for the first time there! ![]()
We’re actually going to bow and say Itadakimas before eating and the works!
Yayy!

“CRAZY JAPANMANIACS INVADE RAMEN BAR IN INDIA! JAPANESE OWNERS FLEE”

“CRAZY JAPANMANIAC INVADES HARVARD!”
“HARVARD SEES STEADY DECLINE IN RANKINGS FOR FIRST TIME IN HISTORY!”
An excited admissions officer at WUStL who refuses to be named exclaimed that they no longer have to use their policy of putting excellent candidates on waitlist to protect yield.
Meanwhile students of Math 55 were seen parading about singing “Udon Udon Udon!”.

^ LOL.

P.S: Anime is weird.

If you observe carefully, thats for the year 2010-2011 and at the bottom, it mentions that US Permanent Residents are included…

OT: Very impressive lady from Lady Shri Ram college.

Hey everyone! I’m gonna keep dropping in here whenever I have study breaks ![]()
Pixie!! You have to be joking, you actually found authentic Japanese in Delhi (define outskirts)?! Like ACTUAL Japanese, where they sell proper sanitized sushi?? This is the BEST news ever, the idea of doing college in Delhi just became 100x more bearable!! Where is it? What’s it like? Tell me if it’s any good! I was wondering what on earth I’d do if I ended up going to college in India and not having sushi for 3 years. I’m a complete addict now, I have to have it at least once or twice a week!
And LOL at the Harvard headlines. I’ll keep an eye out in the Crimson for such news ![]()
Tippu, that’s a great video, thanks for sharing! LSR is one of the colleges I’m applying to, and save for its location, it’s pretty much my first choice is Delhi (assuming I get in, that is).
And hey R! Didn’t think I’d see you back here. How’s everything with you? I’m assuming you’re just as vela as the rest of the Indian crowd?

Nemo! Girlie, you’re back! ![]()
(well, sort of)

YES! In Gurgaon! ![]()
And YES ACTUAL JAPANESE! Actually, it’s actual ACTUAL japanese since it’s made by real japanese people!! XD
Even the name at the entrance is written in proper kanji! XD
And you have to eat with chopsticks (no idea how we’ll manage that haha).
I’m so exciteeddddddd!
Well, I dunno how the sushi is (but I’m sure it’ll be good, my friend recommends the “Inari Sushi” there), we’re going for japanese junk food there. XD
(Yes, it seems I only enjoy junk food of each country)
I can’t watch the video atm since it’s ~ qtr to 5 here, but I’ll do so soon.

I’m sure he is, except he won’t pull his nose down from up in the air for long enough to admit it. ![]()
(jk!)

I really liked that video. Other news articles on Chhavi are just as impressive. More people like her are exactly what our rural population requires.
LSR is my most favorite women’s college in delhi. After LSR I like Jesus and Mary college.

Nemo, if you get LSR, be prepared for tons of interesting intellectual conversations. All the girls I know at LSR are supercool. :)

Sorry to bring back the M&T debate but I had to comment. PrincetonDreams it appears that this is something you do not know much about. It is widely acknowledged that M&T and Huntsman are the most selective programs at Penn! Granted the international pool is self-selecting, the applicant still far exceed the spots available. Furthermore in talking to people who got into M&T, almost all of them got into a couple of other highly selective schools, Stanford, Harvard and MIT being the most common. However, your theory holds true for Penn SEAS ans CAS. They will admit all qualified full paying international in a heart beat! Wharton and the dual degree programs? Not so much!

Coming from someone going to Penn? Hahahahahahahahahahaha! I enjoyed that!

Anyway, sorry if I have ruffled any feathers. goes back into lurking mode

Lol. Penn really is about as cutthroat as it gets. I’ve rarely met a Whartonite or CAS or SEAS student at Penn who actually enjoyed his/her experience there. There’s a strong social hierarchy present there as well, with the wannabe-secret societies, the exclusive fraternities etc. Basically, it takes the worst aspects of Princeton (social hierarchy, competitiveness), without any of the good ones (gorgeous campus, unbelievable academics, the awesome name, unmatched prestige, a ridiculously tight and fiercely loyal alumni network, great undergraduate experience: 5000 undergrads at Prin vs 10000 at Penn undergrads). Frankly, if I were paying full-price at Penn, I would go nowhere near it. Withdrawing my Penn (Wharton) application was the easiest decision I ever made.

I talked to an adcom after a Penn presentation last week. Essentially, they have 50 seats for M&T, 350 or so for engineering and 390 for Wharton.
They select M&T first and if you dont make it, they try to put you in the next major you selected, whether it is business or engineering. I guess Wharton is more popular than Penn Engineering.

Hey, I will be attending Smith College, MA. Anyone else out here heading to Smith?

Hi vincollege! Sorry, no one going this year from here, although we had a girl who went last year. But if you’re looking for SC fans… I LOVE Smith! ![]()
I know one girl from DPS RKP who’s going and another from Mumbai too, so if you want me to connect you to them just ask. :)

I don’t know what Ex-Penn students you have met PrincetonDreams but I believe you have a distorted view of Penn.
Lets break down your ridiculous argument.
“There’s a strong social hierarchy present there as well, with the wannabe-secret societies, the exclusive fraternities etc” - So Social Hierarchy is bad?? How do you think the world works?? The people who work hard on their social life make it to the top of the ladder. I’m glad Penn offers a realistic world and not pretentious environment where the socially awkward nerd is the winner and the outgoing stud is ostracized.

“Basically, it takes the worst aspects of Princeton (social hierarchy, competitiveness), without any of the good ones (gorgeous campus, unbelievable academics, the awesome name, unmatched prestige, a ridiculously tight and fiercely loyal alumni network, great undergraduate experience: 5000 undergrads at Prin vs 10000 at Penn undergrads).”

First things first - Penn came before Princeton so I don’t believe its a copy of it.
Moreover,

You you don’t like a place where some people are more popular than others?? hahaha you’re in for a terrible adult life, my friend.

Well competitiveness is a good to an extent. I don’t where you have got the idea that Penn is excessively competitive. I know many people there and no one seemed have such a problem.

gorgeous campus - You have got to be the most ■■■■■■■■ person on cc. How can you compare the beauty of two Ivy campuses??? They were built in almost the same fashion. All 8 of them (maybe not Cornell) have surprisingly similar architecture and have the same colour stone work. What is to compare are the cities they are in. And Philadelphia is by far better than Ithaca, Hanover, New Haven, Elizabeth and Providence. Only New York and Boston are comparable to Philly.

unbelievable academics - See I presume by that statement you were implying that Penn doesn’t have good academics. hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha Man I need to meet you in person. DO you mind meeting up once your in the States. I want to see the face who comes up with this preposterous stuff.
I urge you to glance at a few rankings and see Penn’s score in academics. Its 5th in the country for good sake.

the awesome name, unmatched prestige - I don’t understand you. Penn doesn’t have good prestige and name?? You seriously want me to answer that?? In the off chance you do, kindly mention that in your reply. I will gladly elaborate to you how Penn has the best Business school in the country, invented the first computer, has the best nursing school, offers the most diverse range of studies and has the most cash rich and fast developing medicine program, has the highest research in Bio Med (after JHU) and is at the forefront of nano technology.

a ridiculously tight and fiercely loyal alumni network, great undergraduate experience: -
Please tell me whats wrong with Penn’s alumni network. Never before on any thread have I come across this negative aspect about penn. I want to know what goes on in your head.
At Penn, you can study what ever you want through the brilliant One University concept. Penn has four undergraduate schools which offer over 92 options of undergraduate study. SO I ask you what kind of undergraduate experience do you want?? If you want a experience where people will sit and listen to your senseless rants, I’m sorry, please go to Narnia.

5000 undergrads at Prin vs 10000 at Penn undergrads - Penn’s campus is twice a big as Princeton’s (hence the chance of crowding is removed) and Penn’s undergraduates are spread across 4 schools as compared to Princeton’s one. Penn’s largest undergraduate school, CAS has 4000 students which is less than Princeton’s so I don’t understand you concern with too many students.

“Frankly, if I were paying full-price at Penn, I would go nowhere near it. Withdrawing my Penn (Wharton) application was the easiest decision I ever made.” - Thank God you withdrew!!

Hey guys! Long time… I’m not feeling well.
Stalked the CC threads today because I was bored.

PrincetonDreams, stop acting like such a ******bag. Like seriously. Stop it. According to you, Harvard sucks, Penn sucks and everything but Princeton and Stanford sucks.

I’d love to see how well you do in life with such a stuck-up and idiotic attitude.

Copied from your essay eh Karan :p

I didn’t want to take it to a personal level but yeah. Ani is right.

Hahah you creeper
Memorized my essay. But it was epic, wasn’t it?? :D

Not a creeper, just got a good memory.

I never said Harvard sucks. In fact, when pix brought up the H vs P debate again last month, I advised her to go with Harvard, because she was clearly more excited about the school, and probably a better fit.

Also, Penn doesn’t “suck”. It just has a lot of cons that a lot of applicants aren’t aware of. Many of which I even only just found out about after talking to my friends who just finished their freshman year there.

Kinda rude don’t you think? Anyways I’m already doing better than most 22 year olds are doing (interning in a position that is for University students entering their final year of study, as a PRE-FROSH!), so I guess I’ll do just fine. :)

Either way, I’m only here to discuss colleges and general academics and help other applicants out, because I’ve gotten to know a lot about the process. If I come off as rude, I apologize. I didn’t intend to sound like that. I just didn’t think other people’s feelings mattered on an online forum fgs. rolls eyes
You guys really need to chill.

Oh, and lol this “******bag” edited your (an anonymous person on a freaking online forum) essay while managing two stage productions. You’re welcome!

chelsearox, those are my views on Penn, formed after talking to several people who just finished their freshman year there. Obviously your’s are different because you’re a pre-frosh who’s going there. There’s no need to get defensive.
Again, I apologize if I offended you.
