<p>2) shashank - I’m planning to take A levels simply to undo the effect of my crappy board exam marks… esp math… (69 / 53) and even sciences (78 / 72 / 69 etc, though most were 2nd or 3rd rank in school :p). I also need to prove my proficiency in many courses like Bio, advanced Math etc. if I’m to reapply. I’m not leaving any stone unturned this time round. I figured that tangible academic evidence must’ve been “it”. And no I’m not yet decided that I’ll take a year off… I’m tilting 80% towards joining some college and reapplying, the only problem being MIT’s policy against applying as freshman 
I SO EFFIN WANT MIT anyway… I found that TWO guys did get accepted out of 246 applicants last year… and 3 girls out of 73 i think. So it’s not impossible.</p>
<p>Also, I’m not just taking A levels - that was hello’s suggestion, infact I’m looking for any tough, college level course/tests so I can prove that those low grades on my transcript are really just a result of me not caring about them, rather than being representative of my academic abilities.</p>

<p>It’s okay. What is not okay is that the may set up a quota. I think setting a cap is better than a quota, like MIT (8% cap on intl students). Let em compete on an equal ground (unlike MIT where we compete on UNequal grounds!).</p>

Shashank, if it’s a fact, what’s the harm in putting it? I mean that will give even more credibility because 1) I’m telling them the truth, and 2) Explaining them why the grades were low and why the A level results should be more representative.</p>
<p>And yeah… those transfer “numbers” are pretty depressing, I got it from their Common Data Set. But what the hell, even if two got accepted, it’s not impossible. I mean heck if they had to pick ONE from the whole wide world, it could be me THIS time round.</p>
<p>i dont have any anti-pakistan feelings, and personally i am all for these CBMs and stuff, but i would have said this even if manmohan did this with any other country in the universe.</p>
<p>The government is crazy. Dont they know the kind of competition there already is for the IIT? They have no right to go give half of them to someone else. These people are becoming more and more irresponsible by the day. In the papers today (or maybe yesterday) someone from the AP congress told the TRS to shut up and wait for Sonia Gandhi to make the decision. they didnt say parliamentary committee, they didnt say a feasability study, they bloody went and named the President of the congress. I aint for a division of the state, but its a bit thick for the state government to leave such an important decision in the hands of someone completely unconnected with the state government.</p>
