Merc, i remember reading on one of the MIT admissions blogs about how they assess ‘Demonstrated intersest’ I think it was Ben who answered to a query on the abolition of ED and said demonstrated interest was judged by continuous hard work and good grades thoroughout High school.

And im sure there is someone with straight As in high school who also took the A-levels and the APs

Oh yeah, i just remembered- i think you can take the APs in India. Some company that starts with a P - (dont remember the name) :p

Well, I explained fully well on the application my attitude towards school studies. And whatever, don’t you think that it’s only a step to strengthen myself as an applicant? Or are you implying that once rejected, I stand no chance whatever I do? (Check the MIT forum, there’s a dead thread by me on this same topic).

theres a slight difference in the toughness you talk about. 2% is not a good selectivity. Also, the ivies and MIT are private universities in a country which has loads of great schools. The IITs are state run, are definitely not cash cows, and are probably the only good engineering schools in the country - perhaps maybe even the only good places for science (except maybe DU, but im not very sure)

Im not saying you have no chance whatsoever. But you have to admit that after getting rejected twice, your chances are little lower than a first time applicant. Bad boards donthelp, neither do repeated screw ups at the SAT. The point is, whatever they may claim, they simply cannot look at an application in the ‘whole’ way as they claim. With the volume of applications they get, they need to eliminate atleast some of it. And i think that initial elimination boils down to bad scores - maybe not isolated instances but a chronic low average does not help, and noone may even read any explanation you may provide

AP, AP, AP. I’m sure there are many centers around India, one in Delhi for sure (AES) but I am not sure how you go about taking the actual test.

coffee?? yuck…(cant stand the bitter taste :o )
the only one i enjoy is the one with extra cream and oreo and cookeis n cream ice cream inside…but i doubt it remains a coffee anymore…:p

neha - hehe that reminds me of something that happened after school- one of my friends hijacked another friends cup of coffee- insisted it needed more sugar- dumped about 8 spoons into it- the coffee even changed colour …then she took one sip and her face turned green- it was hilarious
Coffee- ahhh I go into severe withdrawal without it :(
