Indiana University Bloomington Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

My son was accepted direct admit to Kelley for Real Estate major. He got an email on 12/12 telling him a decision has been posted to the portal. His stats are 4.2 weighted, 1450 SAT. We are out of state from California. Good luck to everyone…this is a stressful but exciting time!

Atlanta too…but havent heard yet. There seems to be no method to the release or maybe dont understand it

Does @jefrobertson or anyone else know if they will continue to send out acceptances up until 1/15, or have all went out that will before the 1/15 deadline? My son applied to the School of Public Health for Sports Management and completed application in August and has heard nothing. 3.98 GPA, dual credit, honors and AP courses, Lilly Finalist and tons of ECs both academic and athletic. Applied early since IU is first choice and others he knows has heard, and he’s just hoping they’ll keep going out and he doesn’t have to wait until 1/15. Nothing has changed in portal or oneiu. He did get the text regarding the app the day before acceptance emails went out. Thanks for any info!

My son is an applicant to the same program. Radio silence here, too. I’m hopeful he hears this week.

@jefrobertson or anyone that has experience, if my son fills out consent to enroll and provides the $100 deposit will that impact merit consideration? Meaning - will they skip my son for merit if they already see he’s completed this step? I’d like to think it won’t, but it makes me wonder. While I know merit won’t be much, something is better than nothing.

I hope so, too! For both of our boys.

if there is no benefit to enrolling early like housing or something else, I would wait as the deadline is May 1. You can even apply to more schools if you so desire for regular decision.

I mean this as literally and nonjudgmentally as possible and not speaking just to this poster as many have stated this feeling - there is no rational reason to believe IUB has sent out every acceptance, they told everyone you will hear by Jan 15, you might hear by Dec 15. College will be extremely challenging if you give into these kind of thoughts. Definitively I can tell you IUB sent out a batch, it is nowhere near complete and if you did not hear it has literally zero to do with your application. Your twin sister could hear and you could not.

Again as literal and nonjudgmental as possible - IUB could not care less if your individual student attends IU and does not align merit awards with whether or not you accepted. It will accept around 40k and enroll 10k. It does not have that kind of focus - these are macro decisions. Also it gives very little merit as most public schools do not. Financial aid and enrollment admissions are two totally different concepts at large publics. Nobody is reading your app and saying hey I really want this kid but looks like we’re good or hey maybe a larger merit will close the deal. You have to look at big publics like IUB that they do not care about you - I was not kidding when I said people complain about the swag being underwhelming - IUB on a macro level does not care AT ALL if you individually attend.

Good luck - everyone who heard congrats and everyone who did not yet - patience. It is not January 15. You should read nothing into not hearing. Literally zero.

Great response. Every college is different especially public and private. My daughter applied to IUB and Butler on the same day. She got accepted to Butler Nov 15th and given 15k/yr academic achievement award in her acceptance letter, but Butler is a private school so they operate differently. For example, in 2023 Butler had approx 9400 applications, 8100 admitted but only 1150 enroll. IUB however had approx 54,000 applications, 42,000 admitted but only around 9,500 enroll. Every school has a different notification style and timeline. Even though it can be nerve racking, still plenty of time and slots available. Good luck to everyone and hope your kids get their first choice!!

if in my one.IU computing account says that there is no application in progress, but my IU portal says that my application is complete and is awaiting decision. Should I be worried if i haven’t hear back yet. I know that decisions have until January 15th I’m more concerned that IU has my application in general and for early.

Congrats. May I know which state please? Thanks

Did you receive email today from
IUB or just Kelley?

It is the case for most of us. We called up the admission’s office and got to know that one.IU and IU portal are having two different accounts and hence they are not in sync. They also told us that all admissions results are not out, and IU will keep releasing the results until Jan 15th for EA (Early Action) applicants.

This is absolutely true, but one minor quibble/clarification. IU (and any other big school), certainly doesn’t care about any individual applicant. They don’t have time to wax enthusiastic about specific applications and put together individually tailored financial aid packages.

However, as you say, they know they need to accept 40k to get to 10k enrolled. And they also know that to make that happen, they need to offer kids in one GPA+SAT/ACT range $X amount of merit and kids in another range $Y amount of merit and kids in another range $Z amount or perhaps none at all.

The point being, they don’t care about any specific applicant as an individual. But they care, at least from a merit standpoint, what ranges different applications fall into and will be certain to offer you whatever is deemed appropriate for that range.

This isn’t really different from what you said, I’m just filling in some things I think you’re already assuming.

My S25 has not heard anything, but I just logged on to his one.IU account like the creeping Mom that I am with these things, and it seems to me he was never able to get into Canvas from there, and now he is able to log in again with his guest account and get in. No info is there, but I dont ever remembering he could get into Canvas. Am I wrong about this? Thank you

Consider Applying to the Hutton Honors College at IU - Received this email today as we selected the interest in Honors College at IU. Not sure if not submitting the honors application is contributing to delayed decisions. As per application portal, Honors application is Optional and hence we didn’t submit the Honors application. Does anyone else in the same boat?
